How do you replace the transmission speed sensor in a 2006 mercury milan?

Transmission speed sensor went bad and I need to fix it on the fly!

Go under the car find the sensor located on the side of the transmission, ,plug conector has to come off, use a socket, if that seems like it wont work go to a parts store ad get a senor socket for your car , now retry .

2006 Mercury Sable just stopped accelerating when driving and the transmission light came on. I put transmission fluid in and it still will not accelerate. Any suggestions


try running the fault codes to find the sensor/servo/ solenoid that is not working
if it drives but does not accelerate it could be a servo /solenoid or a TCM failure no communicating with the ecm due to bad harness connections or other wiring problem

in side the oil pan of the transmission
it is a mesh type filter and only stops large objects or clutch pad and band bits of 1 mm or larger (.040")

How do I know if it is the real main seal that is leaking on my 2006 mercury milan? The oil pan gasket was just replaced and it is still leaking


The best way is to take it to a shop that can put dye in the oil and then use a black light to see where it is leaking.

Sorry you will have to consult the dealer for the services of the nerdy looking one with the laptop under his arm on this ,suspect a fault with electricals if this is a auto version ,well its a american so it must be a auto as they dont have proper instructors who can teach students how to drive a manual vehicle .Do love winding up my american cousins over this but the fact is its a 2009 model with more electronics than the apollo moon mission in 69
