Question about Coleman Heating & Cooling

1 Answer

Hello- I have a 1989 Fleetwood RV with a Coleman AC Unit on the roof and it just stoped working. I beleive it may be a fuse but I can not find it. I would like to start there by checking all fuses. Is the fuse inside the roof mounted unit? Can you help my friends? I'll be in the RV and not at the computer. Can you call me at 480 231-2900 right now? I would be grateful. Perhaps we can find the problem together. Edmund Pongratz

Hello- The inside of the unit says "Coleman TSR Select. Once the inside cover is off, it says it is either a 6727D OR 6750D OR 6770D. I do not know which of the 3 it is because it does not specify. Where is the fuse for this unit? The outside cover only read Coleman... nothing else.

I have a Coleman mach RV roof Ac with a fan and separate Furnace unit. None of the units will turn on.The AC did work along with the fan. Now nothing works. All of the fuses are good

Check the plug end of the Power cord for a broken wire. If you can test the cord for continuity with an ohm meter do that first. Most likely you can get a replacement plug. You'll need to cut the old one off and strip the wires back to connect the new plug.

13.5 Dometic rooftop rv ac design has changed since I purchased 2006 Monaco Camelot rv. The collection cups leading to the drain line do not fit well on the roof seal and a good seal is hard to achieve. If...

I've not run into the problem your having yet, so I will apologize up front for asking you to furnish more information. These drain cups that I assume are little round pieces attached to the base of the unit where it meets the roof, were not common on dometic, but were common on Coleman AC units. Those are the outlets for condensation to the roof anyway, are they not?
Also, as far as gasket goes, no I wouldn't recommend using 2. We were always advised by manufacturer to compress gasket to half the original thickness when installing either Dometic, or Coleman (RV Products). Coleman at one time, had tabs under gasket that when gasket was compressed, and they touched the roof surface inside, that was far enough, which was approximately half the original thickness. Believe it or not, over-tightening is more likely to cause a leak. Stick with half original thickness, or close to it.

How difficult / expensive is it to install a heat strip in a Dometic roof top AC? The unit I have has a mark on the knob for heat, but I suspect it was never installed.

Fairly easy. The only thing that you must figure out is how many amps the heat strips will draw. Make sure the fuses and the breaker switch can handle them. And be aware your electric bills will shoot up.
