Dw734 planer problem

You have badly worn-out sprockets, or you have an idler sprocket that's missing or very badly out of adjustment. It's possible that your chain has stretched beyond recovery, and needs to be replaced.

Just purchased bike and chain skipped under load

very likely that chain links not "fitting" cog teeth . if both chain and cogs are brand new, then skipping should never happen. more often than not, a repair would require both new chain and new rear cogs, and possible new fron t chain wheel. all depends which item are worn. I would probably get a new chain firstly, then see if this fixed the problem. nigel

My chain is skipping on hill climbs

Skipping chain is usually caused by either one or two tight links, or a worn chain.
This is assuming the derailuer is in good condition and not bent or damaged.

Chain and sprockets need to be replaced as a set as a new chain on old sprockets can also slip.

Turn the crank backwards slowly and you wiil see if there are tight links as it goes through the small tensioner wheels

My chain skips

there may be a tight chain link, if you turn the crank backwards you may see the problem. then work the link back and forwards until smooth. and apply some light oil.
The other reason can be a worn chain and sprocket, if it has been ridden a lot.
Chain and sprockets must be changed as a set, as this can also cause skips if only a new chain is fitted.

My Makita 2012 planer 'skips' making a 'machine gun' sound and the wood won't feed through. I think it's the 'plane bearings', but I'm not sure. Does this sound right?

Have you cleaned your rollers? I must admit, I'm having this problem with my 2012NB, I HAVE cleaned the rollers (with ethanol), and have taken the side covers off, and the drive chain and gears look just fine, as does the primary drive belt. I ran the planer with the covers off, and although the gears and belt seem fine, the planer still skips (or slips). I think probably your blade is dull, creating drag (I replaced mine not long ago, but have been planing a lot of rough lumber). I still haven't gotten to the bottom of it, but I think the rollers are slipping, I just don't know why yet.

My crank/chain is skipping on my mongoose pro bmx. This just started when I was riding it, and it skipped. The chain is in the right right place and does not seem to be skipping place, but the crank is...

It seems you will need more tension on the chain. Place the bike upside down, loosen the nuts, grab a broom stick or bar and place it between the rear tire and crank housing straight up and down with the handle bars away from you, push the bar away from you. When done properly the tire will come toward you tightening the slack in the chain. While you hold pressure on the bar tighten the nuts and WALLA.

New kmc 10speed chain skipping over a newer durace cassette

If you replaced the chain yourself , you may have left it too long. With the chain on the biggest cog on the rear and the biggest cog on the front , pull the two ends of the chain together and see where they will link up. Leave another two links in the chain and it should be the correct length. You may also have the wrong chain for the bike. Also carefully check each tooth on each cog front and back for wear. Also check the idler wheels in your rear derailleur.
