If the main light flashes 10 times and the door reverses to the open position it is a door sensor problem. Make sure the lights on the sensors are both on and not flickering. Tweak them if necessary. If you cannot get both lights to come on you have bad sensors or the wiring to them.

My older Craftsman garage door opener comes down about 6" & then goes back up. I just replaced all the rollers o& the opener worked fine. Then I tightened the chain on the opener & it worked ok...

If the main light flashes 10 times when the door goes back up it is a door sensor problem. You chain should sag just a little. If you tighten it too much it will click as it goes over the sprocket. You can increase the down force which is an adjustment near where all those white wires go. A 1/4 turn should be enough. Release the door from the opener and operate it by hand. It should move freely and when you have the door approximately waist high it should stay put. Neither raising nor closing.

My 1/2 hp craftsman garage opener won't go down

It sounds like it is out of alignment. The motor does detect excess pressure incase something or someone is underneath and the light sensor is not detecting anything. The pressure on the motor does change from when the door is all the way up to when it has the full weight of the door on the chain before it touches down. The spring offsets most of the weight of the door, but it still takes weight. Maybe when the motor is taking more of the weight, it is still shifting in a way to throw off the alignment. Also, you could disconnect the door from the chain, try manually moving the door and see how much weight the motor is taking at what points. Good luck!

Installed new opener and everything worked properly. 2days later the safety sensor doesn't work. The amber and green lights are not lit and the door won't go down. This is a Chamberiain 1/2 hp chain drive....

If you haven't yet, double check the wiring on the back of the motor unit. A wire could have broken or just come loose. If your opener is new it will be in warranty.

Craftsman - chain drive. now open won't travel more than 1 ft.

Sounds like you have a bad RPM sensor board. This is a small printed circuit board just in front of the motor.

Sears garage door opener only open half way going up..

this one is easy...there inside your garage door opener, the one on the top of your ceiling in your garage has little like knobs ..mine has a straight like screw driver circles attached to knobs. Round dials with screw driver like knobs on top of them...they are adjustable. your "tune" them until they just stop where you want them, don't forget to grease your chain, keep your tracks clean of dust, and make sure your safety "stops" are working properly so that if children are in the way, it will stop. Also..make sure there is nothing in the way of the track. If the sensor "senses" a block...that will also cause it to stop halfway. Now if you could tell me how to change my combination on my keypad...I'm all set.

Sears/Craftsman Garage Door won't budge

with the door down, disconnect with the emergency release, see if the motor operates
with no load...if the the track moves you probably have something obstructing the door
ie; a broken spring, door locks, etc ... the chain should be adjusted for just a little
**** mid way down the rail (1/4") if it still doesn't move ... call sears.

Motor hums but door will not open or close.

Well Good thing is that sears openers have not changed much int eh way they are hooked up. If you have a chain drive you can pretty much buy and chain drive sears opener and it should bolt right up. But you might have to run safety sensors as of 1993 they have to be on all openers. Also if you are going to do a motor head change out make sure your chain and door are in the closed position. All openers will start up once they are plugged in

is bulb on motor flashing 10 times. then you have electric eye problem. otherwise, sounds like you need to increase down force a hair. adjustement is on logic board, right knob.
