Question about HP LaserJet 1320 Printer
I have a HP Laserjet 1320N. It is connected to the network and, at some point in the past, I was able to make one of the computers in the office connect to it ("WORK1" is the name of the computer). Subsequently, every time I add a new computer, I have to make it talk to the printer *through* WORK1. I really just want to connect directly to the printer... after all, that is why we bought a network printer. However, when I try to BROWSE (we're using XP pro) it never will see the printer. I did push the reset button to make sure the IP address is set: it is. When I try to input the IP address to just "go there" (rather than browsing) it still can't find it. The driver is no help at all. Am I missing something? Thanks, Sam
First step is to make the IP address in the printer a static IP. This is done via the printer's control panel menu. Once you know the printer's IP address, you can access it's setup page via the web by typing in the IP address into a browser.
Then you can setup the printer on each computer by adding it by it's IP address rather than trying to have XP search for it.
If I could be of further assistance, let me know. If this helps or solves the issue, please rate it.
