Question about Vehicle Parts & Accessories
My 1996 Toyota Surf with 3.0, 1KZTE engine, A/T cut out for no reason. sometimes the engine start again but cut out after a minute or so. I have checked the fuel pump, replaced the fuel filter with no luck. I susspect a faulty spill valve relay or the ECU. Can I supply power direct to the spill valve to get it going again to enable me to do a proper fault finding?
If you do that it might start... and the whole engine would be "kaput"
so its better if you tow it and take it to a garage

It's possible it's a wiring or PCM issue but it's pretty likely the sensor itself.

Testimonial: "thanks for the positive encouragement. changing sensor was a reasonable attempt but unfortunately code keeps popping up once in a while. Will schedule diagnosis at dealer."
only thing I ever noticed when running and electric fuel pump on a carburated motor is that it can over power seals, gaskets and o rings. (so it could be running rich...or lean (i forget which is for to much fuel))
may need to rebuild the carburetor, or simply have it adjusted? im not sure tho.
but this only my suggestion
