Hp pavillion g7 shorting out

I installed a new fan in my laptop. Now usually during my StarCraft game my laptop shorts and everything shuts off instantly. No power. Battery is fine. I believe wires are touching or a part is bad/failing. I checked the wires and can't find anything wrong or exposed. What is most likely to be the issues and/or how would I go about finding the issues on my own.

Monitor the CPU temperature. There are some free applications which will do this. When the CPU overheats it will turn the system off off without warning to save itself from being destroyed. Often times the CPU fan and passages gets clogged with dust on a laptop. It could be a bad temperature sensor causing the power-off. Put the laptop in the freezer for 30 minutes or so. Start it up and monitor the CPU temperature. If CPU temperature is not excessive, then remove other components from the system and bring it down to a base configuration. For example, go down to 1 memory dimm, remove add in cards, etc. Try to isolate the issue this way. I'd be very surprised if it was the fan somehow shorting out, it sounds more like inadequate cooling. Did you remove the heat sink from the processor? Is it securely attached? Is there the correct amount of heat sink grease? (too much or too little)

HP pavilion G7 wont boot, BEST buy said it was motherboard, bought new motherboard, replaced it still no power. Power light not even on.. removed battery, placed in ac cord still nothing. help?

NO power means all LEDs are dead, fan dead, and no text ever and 100% silent.
G7 what, what isare the full model numbers off the service tag.?
The FAN is dead, that is first to look for, and feel it blow.
hear it blow, and if wise clean it and see it blow, first.
if the fan cant blow air all PCs of this nature overheat fast
http://pcdied.com/overheated.html

BBuy , why go there./? find a real shop with real techs.
that know the diagnosis is hands on,event not guessing.
we test, prove what is wrong the buy the part.
what does placed in ac cord mean?

you meant REPLACED , just the cord and not the PACK
learn that all PCs made, heck all electronics fail for power.
it can not run lacking power ever.
learn that all things can short, when they do the power supplies shut down (to prevent a fire< is why)
knowing that one fact, lets you diagnose in clarity.
1: remove the main battery pack. yes they do short often.
2: turn it on, does the fan blow? now, it must.
yes blows good, no blow fix that next. lets say its a no blow.
3: fan packed in lent, or dead fan. or total loss of power.
lets work power first.
or the whole AC line power pack is dead, 19vdc. not just the cheap ac line cord bad, the $10 pack is dead, or weak, yes, they fail for weak and dead,.
note the serial process, and varies by tests results....

a tech then checks the voltage at the mobo jack for 19vdc.
if its 18.5v its ok if 10v or 0v its no good.
power is first there must be full 19vdc to the mobo.
or the MOBO can not do its job, ever.
lets say you bought a new power pack and it still fails.
a 65watt to 100 watts or more pack not ever below. that.
SHORTS HAPPEN.
now lets say the mobo has short. or it's connected Friends.
and the pack reads way too low volts and overloaded

we then remove the DVD drive, and HDD drive.
they too scan short , as can all modules in side the PC.
there are many modules then then pull them all 1 by one to clear the short.
mine has 7 modules to pull, lots.
if you dont know how to dismantle a G7 then you are not going to fix it , unless the AC pack is bad.

there are many G7 , but your never yet disclosed which one
https://support.hp.com/us-en/products/laptops/pavilion-notebooks

see them there,
if you go to your support page the service manual is there.
lets say you said dash 2300
and I show.
https://support.hp.com/us-en/product/hp-pavilion-g7-2300-notebook-pc-series/5330581/manuals

see the service book , it shows how to take it apart.

if the tech did not strip the mobo down to prove its bad.
then he failed at his job. for sure.

here is an elite book ,see all those cards to pulle

http://www.pcdied.com/765-quad-core.jpg

even the useless modem can short , dang what if that did,

wifi card.
the express card?

here is photos of power working stripped
here is the BIOS info pages working,
with all things removed.

http://www.pcdied.com/BIOS/blink-w-scr1.JPG

even pull ram out and power turns on but not fan.
you can try each RAM stick DDR one at a time. mine has 4.

as you see , we test the MOBO on the bench first.
to be sure its alive at all. or lots of wasted labor
doing a huge full DISassembly and re-assbimbly for no gain.
thats is on power bad...

Have an HP pavilion G7 wont boot, no power light , replaced mother board, still wont boot. Removed battery plugged in a/c cord still no boot? Help?

G7 what, it has full model number not just G7,
that means near zero. in fact.

what does boot mean? its a long serial process.
sure no windows (no windows stated, XP?)
the power must turn on and first.
hear that fan run? feel it blow? vents clean first.

The G7 Pavilion is both a desktop PC and a Laptop,
silly no, but HP did that, google G7 , SEE?

I guess the BATTERY thing is not the CMOS battery but the huge , Laptop battery. smart act taking it out first. they do short.
but what about sound, and the fan blowing. it must blow
or the Power pack is dead.
i bet the old mother board was ok. and you didnt do the strip down test to prove that.

ever heard of these?
1: CMOS RTC BIOS NVRAM COIN cell, replace it first.
if not the BIOS can not load configs. ever. again. bad bad bad.
2: power pack dead if fan is dead. replace it its only $8
or use a voltmeter is it enters the mobo 19vdc, is ok, less that 18v not.
3: then if the fan is still dead, power dead, BIOS dead.
and external VGA port dead to external monitors, then
we pull modules off the MOBO, up to 6 or more
they all can short and when they do, power goes to ZERO
the regulators do that by DESIGN.
(the no catch fire deal)

sure wish you said (lap or desk top sure did)
after all the Desktop PSU may be bad, if its fan is dead.

It is of that age where the GPU has failed. Re balling it will only be temporary. Have a new GPU fitted by someone competent with an infra red re balling machine.

Have a hp pavillion g7-1329wm laptop and once powered on it goes straight to black screen and fan turns off there is orange light at power supply

The laptop is not charging and overloading the power supply.

It needs fixing, not something you can do yourself.

G60-120US high temp problem

Laptop's temp should NEVER be higher than 60-70 C. Otherwise, windows or the CPU will shut it down (my laptop never goes over 75 C, even when running games for a short time)
A few tips:
1) Laptops are a really bad choice for games. They are not designed for that and they will overheat, some of them a lot, depending on the manufacturer.
2) Check if you BIOS has an option to turn "automatic fan control" OFF. This will keep the fan running at HIGH all the time, helping somewhat with the heat (most laptops do not have this control in the BIOS)
3) Clean up the fan. Turn the laptop off, disconenct the AC charger, remove the bottom cover and blow compressed air from a compressed air can. Be sure to remove all the dust and lint. Check that the fan moves easily. Replace the cover, plug the AC charger on and try again.
4) REMOVE SPEED FAN and install CPUID's Hardware Monitor from here:
http://www.cpuid.com/hwmonitor.php
It's much better and it gives you the temps of CPU, HD and video card and also speed of fan(s)

Hp Pavillion powers up then shuts down

this usually means that theres a hardware problem. its possible that you could have short-circuited a device from ESD when you changed your DC jack. always remember, before you take apart your computer, even as symple as swapping RAM, disconnect the power cord, remove the battery, and press and hold the power button for 10 seconds to clear the sensitive circuitry of any remaining juice. if you have the BIOS beeps disabled (as they are default in most newer systems) then you have a real problem. try to listen for the fans to kick on and the hard drive to kick up. if everything sounds ok, then it might be the videocard or the ram. usually, from my past experience, its the processor that has burnt out. but then again, im an overclocker.

I have a HP Pavillion DV 2000 laptop with me. When i boot my system it gives 1 long beep followed by two short beeps and the system doesnt boot. I am not sure as what to do. Can someone help me here?

This website:
http://www.pchell.com/hardware/beepcodes.shtml

Lists standard beep codes for computers. The one long, followed by two short beeps indicates a display problem according to the site.

I have heard other people say that the same beep codes specify a RAM problem.

Have you recently installed any new RAM or a new graphics card, or made changes to either.

It seems likely to be the graphics card because of the missing info on the screen. Usually when RAM is bad there is something on the screen.
