Cd stack area makes a grinding sound and I cannot play cd

I just bought this system "RCA RTD258" and it has yet to work properly, the only thing that I am able to use is the tuner option and that at times makes the same sound, am I doing something wrong? I called the service center and they advised me to reset the device and this I did, without any results........please help me.

System played fine for 18 months. One day, turned on DVD player, came on in the "standby" mode. When I hit the power button machine turned off completely and woudn't come back on until I unplugged system for several minutes. When I plugged it back in it comes on in "standby" mode and the whole problems repeats.I can't eject the DVD's in the machine.

I tried emailing RCA's support, but no reply so far.

I am trying to find specs on the speakers that originally came with the RTD258 Systems Ohms? etc

Here is the RCA RTD258 spec sheet: http://static.highspeedbackbone.net/pdf/RTD258%20.pdf . I found the link at http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=3142374&CatId=4585 . The manual is also available: http://static.highspeedbackbone.net/pdf/RTD258_UMEN.pdf .

The original speakers were all two-way, 8 Ohms, except for the sub-woofer which is one-way 8 Ohms. The amplifier gave 167 watts to each speaker.

Does this help?

Dvd/cd door to open

hello the problem could either be the rubber attached to the motor of the mechanism or the mechanism itself. if it is the rubber replace for a new one of the same size. if it is the mechanism, check the wheels and adjust the tray if neccessary.... GOODLUCK

Reads Bad Disc also. Just bought a memorex DVD lens cleaner disc. And that also reads bad disc.

What is the format of the data on your CD?

It is not all players that plays all CD's, so maybe the CD you inserted is among those that your player cannot play.

Or maybe you need to change the lens totally, but before you do this, try some other CD's on the player and see how it responds.

HP dvd play on my laptop malfunctioning

grinding sounds is from the dvd drive itself. Sounds like its not sitting properly in the drive or the holder that it sits in is going bad. Either way replace the drive and that will take care of the grinding sounds. Also the more grinding sounds that happen, the more of a chance you take on your dvds getting scratches on them and going bad eventually.

Disc Tray Won't Open

I have contacted Venturer Electronics Inc. (which have recently purchased RCA); they are in Toronto, Ontario. They suggested to perform a Manufacturer Reset (as follows); and if it works; system should power up [this means there was a glitch in the software]...(this usually happens when system is plugged into a power bar or surge protector) if not, contact them @ 1-800-721-4007. They honor the manufacturer's (RCA) 1 year warranty... with receipt.

To reset Unit:
Unplug Unit from AC power (other wires can stay connected)
Press the On/Standby button in front of Unit 15 times
Wait 30 minutes
Replug Unit to AC power
Press the On/Standby button to power up unit
Wait couple of minutes for unit to do its thing

**If unit works properly, then ensure not to plug unit into power bar or surge protector, keep plugged into wall.
**If unit will not power up properly, contact them for further instructions.

Hope this is helpful....
My Unit powered up wonderfully and is currenlty working like a charm.
Good luck!
