Two things. 1. Bad Relay   2. Bad Compressor
The clicking is the overload protector.

Maytag 51105349JA refrigerator top freezer snowing up and won't stop running

Defrost thermostat, defrost timer or defrost heating element is bad. Because of that the evaporator is clogged with ice and the cold air cannot get to the fresh food section. Therefore the thermostat control doesn't get cold enough to turn off the compressor. On the other hand the temperature thermostat may be bad and stuck inn the on position causing the ref to operate continuously thereby defeating the defrost cycle. Uplug the ref and allow it to thaw completely. (24hours). Then while its quiet... turn the thermostat to OFF or 0 and then to the coldest setting and listen for a click sound. No click sound means bad thermostat. Later after thawing plug in refrigerator and observe function after 2 hours and check for cold air flow to the fresh food section. If the refrigerator appears to be okay... the problem is a defrost issue. Most typically a defrost thermostat is bad, but when behind the freezer panel is a good time to perform an ohm/ continuity check on the defrost heating element.

My refrigerator it stop working at all. what can be the problem?

few things we need to look at ...first is there any frost on the back wall of freezer. if there is you have a defrost issue either there is a bad heater, defrost terminator switch located on the evap coil or a defrost control... if no frost on back wall check to see that the indoor fan is running in the freezer section (you may have to hold door switch while you have it open to listen) if this is good move to back of unit take back lower panel off and gain access to compresssor is it running? are you or have you heard any clicking come from unit.is the fan in this area running ? place your hand over the compressor is it hot to touch and does it feel like it is running. sometimes the relay on the compressor fails you can remove it if you unplug unit does it rattle?
*** if the unit has ice on back wall of freezer you will have to remove shelves and back panel thaw unit out and check heater using a meter remove wire on each side and check continuity is it good? the defrost terminator is located on the top side of coil or incoming suction line on coil normally clips on and is what senses temperature and makes determination in defrost cycle. the defrost control on time sends power to the terminator switch if it is cold enough it will aloow power to go through to the heater and defrost on time... hope this helps find your problem repost with anymore questions..

Freezer cuts on every 3-4 minutes. stays on 8-10 seconds. some thawing occuring

If I understand you correctly the compressor is short cycling. The more it does this the worse it gets by causing the compressor to overheat. Sometimes the problem is because the condenser fan or evaporator fan being defective. Pull away from wall and remove cover over compressor unplug and feel top of compressor and if too hot to keep hand there keep unplugged but do examine the evaporator and condenser fan to eliminate them as a reason. The most likely reason is start relay and or start/run capacitor and sometimes a worn out compressor.

Parts in that photo are marked as 10 overload/relay, 11 is the run capacitor and 3 being condenser fan motor. Condenser and evaporator fan motors do not always stop completely when bad so make sure both run while compressor is running. If this has been helpful please rate if you have more questions please let me know, Thanks Sea Breeze

you need to replace the start components on the compressor, theres a relay that mounts on to the compressor that takes out the start winding after it starts the compressor up. You can also try whats called a three in one to try to start up the unit. Good Luck.

GE Freezer Not Freezing

I am not an expert, but if the defrost heater is not working, then maybe when it was unpluged the coils didn't completly unthaw. If not, the freezer still will not cool properly.

Freezer only cool, fridge not cold as well

it sounds like the relay on the back of the unit may have gone bad.or the compressor has a leak in the line...call a tech out and have it checked...it may be cheaper to get a new fridge

Amana refirgerator/freezer combo not working properly

it sounds like a bad:
  • start switch (on the side of the compressor) or
  • compressor itself
the start switch clicks  off usually when the compressor is pulling too many amps or the compressor is overheating. if the compressor is not even running then its probably not overheating.
  • so either the compressor is pulling too many amps (bad compressor) or the start switch is bad and cannot handle the amps required to start the compressor.

GIBSON DEEP FREEZE IS RUNNING BUT EVERYTHING IS THAWING OUT

Might try unplugging for a few hours and then plug it back in. There is a possibility that it slugged the compressor and there is a restriction in the line. Sometimes when the compressor fails to stop running in cold air the liquid gets back to the compressor. It can cause a bit of gunk to be picked up out of the oil and carried to the expansion line and plug up the line. Maybe turning it off will let the plug fall free and not replug the line. Worth a try anyway.....
