Question about Refrigerators

1 Answer

Fridge not cooling, freezer is ok.

I have an LG fridge freezer. model gr359sq. The freezer is fine but the fridge is not cooling. I have checked the fan which is working fine, i have defrosted completely but has made no difference. I am stuck as to what the problem may be. I've also cleaned the coils etc. When i took the fridge temperature control out of the back of the fridge compartment, there didnt appear to be any electrical wires connected to this. (how does it control the fan?) Is there any way i can test the pcb or control sensors to locate the fault? This fridge is just 2 years old.

    Thanks for your reply.

It does look like you described but I just cant figure out the functionallity of this. How does it actually control the temperature?
It is a dial with a thin pipe that dissapears into an insulated compartment which detaches from the fridge.

From what i gather, there is no way it can possibly communicate with the fan or pcb to tell it the temperature should be increased or decreased as there are no wires connecting this unit to the rest of the fridge.

How do I bypass the theremostat then? I have read that i need to reconnect wires but there are no wires to reconnect.

    Thanks for all your help.
    Richard

I have opened the control again and there are no wires connected.

I have done a self test with the button on the PCB and this lights up the vaction and quick freeze buttons. It also turns all 5 temperature lights on and makes two beeps.

I have downloaded this manual but it's not making sense to me.

Its usually a bulb of heat sensitive Gas then a long thin pipe that eventually connects to thermostate switch, bypass this switch to seee if that could be the faulty part. Good Luck , the Yeti

Take the unit to bits with the dial, there you will see the wires, its a simple switch that just turns the compressor on or off or the fan on or off, dont get a shock! the Yeti

behind the dial are the wires you need to bypass, the Yeti

LG 262SQA Model fridge cannot cool

That does not look like an LG model number, but regardless, it sounds like the defrost system is not working, allowing frost to build up and block air flow over the cooling coils in the freezer (where all the cooling for the entire refrigerator takes place). Take back panel off inside freezer, melt frost / ice with a hair blower. Test for continuity through defrost heater and replace if "open". If it was OK, problem could be deftost control, or as simple as a door not fully closed at some time, allowing excessive frost build up.

Hi, I have an LG refrigerator, the top freezer works fine but the fridge section has stopped cooling, I turned the unit off and next morning there was a large puddle of water on the floor, when I turned it...

When the fridge is not cooling that means the fan are not working or not working properly, need to replace or check if their is an ice bothering the fan to turn. ok

Our LG GR359SQ Fridge Freezer, the fridge has stopped cooling. Everything else seems to still work, freezer, lights etc. But the fridge is warm. Any thoughts?

Make sure the the evaporator fan is running and circulation is getting to the fridge side. Remove anything that could be blocking the vent that brings in the air from the freezer to the fridge. Make sure that no frost is building up in the back of the freezer. If there is frost, then the timer can be going bad.

Brand new refrigerator not cooling

ok what he was trying to say is that the freezer does all the cooling for both sides as nothing in the fride side cools and in order for the fridge to reach its proper temp the freezer should run any where between -0 to-10 then the fan in the freezer draw-es air from the fridge and cools it and circulates to the fridge now i need to know a few things is the compressor running is the freezer fan running do you see any frost on the back wall of the freezer section is the fan running in the back that's near the compressor to cool the condenser coils then i can better advise pleas hold my rating till we are done where did you purchase the unit
