Error message says Hard Disk failure is imminent. Back up hard disk and replace.

You can't repair a HDD, only the MFG, and they put in a new disks and new head actuator.

You can run tests, check for bad sectors, try and repair bad ones.

You can do all this, then have it die and lose everything in time.

Buy a new HDD.

Newegg.com

You didn't post the model so I have no clue what your interface is.

It's either IDE or Sata.

Here is a Sata 3 HDD, 320g, 2.5 for laptops. 50.00 with shipping.

All Sata is interchangeable. If your chipset has a sata 2 you can put in a Sata 3 HDD.

Besides Sata 3 HDD are not really Sata 3 speed, only means it's for Sata 3 ports. No HDD can break the 200MB transfer speed.

If you don't know hot to tell what interface your HDD is post back asking with the moled number and MFG of your laptop.

Hhd security lock reset password

Download the HDD Unlock Wizard diagnostic tool free from the link on the HDD Unlock page. The program allows you to test the program to see if it can recognize your hard disk before you attempt to unlock your drive. Double-click the icon in the "Downloads" folder and click "Run" to launch the program setup, then follow the HDD Unlock Wizard Setup Wizard to install.

Open the Unlock Wizard and click "Next" to get to the drive selection screen. The program automatically displays any drive that it can recognize in the "Drive selection" window and its status.

Select the name of the hard drive from the "Drive selection" window. Click "Next" to move into the status screen of the Wizard, then "Next" again to move to the unlock screen.

Go to the HDD Unlock page and purchase a virtual unlock card code for the program. The code will be emailed the email address you provide on the website. You must have an unlock code in order to complete the unlocking process with the HDD Unlock Wizard.

Enter your code into the provided box in the HDD Unlock Wizard. Once the code is entered, the Wizard will unlock the hard disk by erasing the data and re-certifying the drive, restoring it to its original factory settings.

Shut down the computer and boot it back up after the Unlock Wizard is finished the unlocking process. The computer hard disk should be unlocked and restored to factory settings.

1. Repair Station

Download the Repair Station diagnostic tool from HDD Tools and install it on your computer. Unlike HDD Unlock Wizard, Repair Station attempts to unlock the hard disk without erasing the information on the drive.

Register with your name and email address and create a login and password on the HDD Tools page. You must have a login and password to use the Repair Station tool.

Open Repair Station on your computer and go through the program screens to run the diagnostic test on your hard drive. If the hard disk appears in the list of available drives, Repair Station can unlock it.

Buy a Repair Station license code. The code will be emailed to the email address you provide. Enter the code into the provided box in the Repair Station application. Repair Station will attempt to unlock only the firmware area of the hard disk, without affecting the other information stored on the disk.

Restart the computer when Repair station is finished working. The hard disk should be unlocked without any effect on the rest of the system

DISK DRIVE NOT WORKING

If your Hard Disk Drive (HDD) is not working and assuming that this is also your boot disk for starting the laptop, then you have several possible causes:
1. The HDD has failed / died / become non-operational and will need to be replaced and your operating system reloaded or restored from a backup if you have one.
2. The computer BIOS has lost the configuration for the HDD and doesn't recognise it as a valid boot device. In this case, you would need to go into the BIOS settings and check to see what HDD devices are beig detected, then look at the Boot options within the settings and ensure that the HDD is selected as the main boot device.
Note: It is normal to have other removable devices set ahead of the HDD such as CD / Diskette or USB devices.
3. The HDD boot sector has become corrupted and the computer no longer recognises the disk as a valid boot medium. You would need to repair the HDD if this is possible using an alternative boot media such as the Hiren's Boot CD which you would need to download as an ISO CD image then burn on to a blank CD disc, then boot from. The DOS programs on the Hiren's CD provide a very good HDD repair tool called HDAT2.
An alternative approach would be to remove the HDD from the laptop and connect it as a slave in a different computer and then perform any repair activities from that system.
