Question about Niles Audio MS220 Surface-Mount IR MicroSensor, Black

1 Answer

Niles infrared microsensor blinks continuously

My Niles infrared microsensor has recently started blinking/flashing continuously. It flashes as if someone were holding down a button on the remote control (each time you push a button, the LED flashes to let you know it's working). This has only started in the past couple of days and it renders the entire system useless for remote control.

1. The microsensor could be dusty
2. The remote could have a stuck button
3. Something is generating an infrared signal that the microsensor is detecting
4. Batteries could need replacement

Check the remote control for its infrared emission. Check it with fresh batteries. Check it by pressing all the keys. You can detect the presence of infra-red emission from the remote control, using a cell-phone camera. If you wish to get more details about how to check a remote control, please visit this site. One among the posts has details about it. Surf the site with patience. In some cases, the remote control might need to clean.

I had the same issue as Brian, the Niles ZR8630 stays in initializing mode. At first, the unit would not turn on, so opened it and replaced the fuse, power was restored. But now the unit continually stays in INIT mode.
any body has an answer/solution?

I have an Onkyo TXNR609 home theater receiver hooked up to a 6 speaker surround sound setup in the living room. I also have 2 speaker pairs outside - one on the downstairs patio and one upstairs. I was...

If you haven't done already, then verify that zone 2 works without the selector. If the speakers definitely work and the zone output definitely works then the speaker selector must be the culprit! It's pretty difficult to mess up the wiring with speakers, as even if polarity is reversed, you will still hear something.

I have 6 speakers connect to my Niles 1230. The 2

First, change them to a different set of channels to rule out any problem with the amp. Next, pull the speakers, depending on the manufacturer, if their older than 1 year they may be blown. If you can pull the grill off the speaker, do so and examine the surround. If it's rubber or plastic, it should be ok. If it's foam or paper, chances are it's bad. If you still have a problem, post a comment and I will help you troubleshoot some more.
