Question about GE Televison & Video
Upgraded software for Samsung BD-E6100 Blu-Ray player when connected by HDMI cable to Techwood TV. When Blu-Ray player restarted a horizontal "tear" appeared at the bottom of the screen. Can the player update the TV settings via the HDMI cable? If so, how do I change the TV settings back? If not, then can someone help with the TV fault. Symptom is the same when there is no input to TV HDMI socket. Have also tried using SCART but that is the same. Thanks in anticipation.
A 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.

SOURCE: HDMI Input Failed
I've been seeing alot of this out in the field. The cable is thick and heavy, after awhile the HDMI connectiion inside the set comes apart and breaks from the main board. In my opinion the only difference between Component jacks and HDMI inputs is the thought of reducing the amount of wire mass in the back of the unit. It's more pleasing to the eye. If it's under any kind of warranty, call a servicer. The main PCB will need to be replaced. If it's not under warranty, use component input cables, you'll get the same performance from your set and save a few bucks.

Get an ESR meter and check all the electrolytic capacitors in the set! I am sure you will find many decoupler and coupling capacitors that are on the edge or too high in ESR.

I dont have a TV with HMDI input but i do have a computer moniter. To change i have to press a button that changes from VGA to HDMI. My computer supports HDMI and when i tried it, it works. Try looking in your manual for a way to switch input methods.

hdmi inputs allow connection of the generation of 1080p sources for the systems which offer 1080p outputs
