Remove the starter and bench test it with auto booster cables /put the black on the starter case and touch the stud on the rear of the starter. It should spin rapidly and the drive should advance if neither
happens the starter will need rebuilding or replacing. if the starter spins rapidly but the drive does not advance you may only need to replace the drive.

Everything works on the car but the starter wont engage and i just bought a new starter and battery

Take the starter back out but leave it connected. If it doesn't use a ground wire, make up a heavy wire and use that for ground.
When you hit the key, watch to see if the starter gear moves forward to engage an doesn't just spin. (it engages the flywheel when in place.) The engine isn't supposed to fire if it's not turning.

Starter motor wont engage checked brushes and movement small what i persume soleniod attached the side of starter just clicks

Alot of the time a clicking sound indicates a dead battery. It happens when there isn't enough power to fully engage the starter but just enough to engage solenoid. I would check your battery and all connections, including ground wires, battery wires and solenoid wires. Take a wire brush to them and clean them up and reinstall them. If that doesn't work, remove your starter and bench test it by hooking up a good battery to the lead that solenoid goes to and ground the other. If it passes the bench test your solenoid probably needs replaced. If it fails the problem is in your starter. Good luck! FYI, remove battery leads while removing starter and other wires for safety when cleaning.

2002 yukon wont start drove it allday yesterday and last night .woke up headed to to work wouldn't start tried jumping it still kno start replace battery and still wont start

Is the starter engaging when you jump start it? You say you replaced the battery, is the cable ends clean? If the starter is engaging you have other problems, if its not then check out the starter/cables. Good luck!

Bulldozer quit running now it wont turn over or do anything

check your ground on your starter/starter relay/ground from battery, possibly even a bad start key/switch. Are all your "kill" switches engaged (clutch pedal/brake/seat/door, etc). Since I dont know the model of your bulldozer I am just suggesting the basics. Good Luck

2003 dyna starter turns but wont engage, new battery fitted

Hi Anonymous, lift up rubber boot on positive cable to starter, unplug starter relay wire usually green, with a jumper wire connected to positive battery cable starter stud, touch blade connecter on starter where starter relay wire was removed. If starter engages and turns over engine then your starter relay is bad. If starter activates but does not engage then your starter drive/clutch is bad. Good luck

Brand new starter was installed in my 2003 nissan altima but when i try to start it sounds like its grindinding the sound is similisr to when you already have the car running and you try to start it...

you could have a bad flywheel, missing teeth, was that checked when the starter was out ? if not, your going to have to check it now, also , check the teeth on the starter and have it bench checked to see if it engages properly, Its not unusual for a rebuilt to have faults

Starter

the most common problem would be the starter relay,
the contacts burn out so just replace the relay.
