Kenwood kdc-mp142 why does it shut down when

Have you checked your speaker wiring as it could be you have some wires crossed ie: negative feeding the positive side causing the shut down & check the Ohms if at high volume you are trying to drag to many Ohms it will also cause the built in amp to shut down to protect the system dont keep incresing the volume as the strain will do damage

My Onkyo 808 shuts down when i raise the volume, and when I try to set it up using the micophone.

Amps shut down in most cases because the receiver is detecting and impedance (below 4 ohms) that might damage the amplifier. Do a quick check of the speaker connection and look for wires that might be shorted to the frame or have crossed each other. This is the most common cause of the unit shutting down. Check your speakers impedance if you have a meter. If you don't then unplug power from the unit and then un-hook all speaker wires from the receiver. Next connect just one speaker (Front Left) and power the unit back on and take the volume up. If it shuts down then try the Front right all by itself, bring the volume up again. If the unit seems ok then add one speaker at a time and test. Continue until you find the bad speaker/cable. Your amp should be able to drive speakers down to 4 ohms. The NR808 has power monitoring (sometimes called crowbar) that looks for to much current and then shuts down. I suspect you may have a short in a cable or in a speaker. The 808 is a great amp and hopefully your problem is external. If your amp continues to shut down even with just one speaker connected then one or more of your channel amps (internal) is likley bad causing the unit to shut down. Good Luck.

I have a eu3000 overload safety shuts it down at about 1100 watts

Can you verify the amp draw on the output? This gen should handle 25 amps continuous. I wonder if you actually have a bit more that 9 amps? It would be nice to check the frequency and volts too...A Fluke multi-meter can read these values.

Amp protection mode

Disconnect everything from the amp except the power cord, then power on the amp. If the receiver still shuts down, your problem is inside the case and unless you can perform electronic repair yourself you will probably need to take it in for service. If it does not shut down with nothing connected, power it off, connect one speaker or component and power on again. Repeat the process until the amp shuts down and you may have found the bad speaker or other component.

Doesn't turn on

Measure the DC voltage across the B+ and ground terminals as well as across remote and ground. If you have less than 11 volts when the amp tries to power up, the amp could be shutting down due to low voltage. If the voltage remains near or above 12v, disconnect all speaker wires and signal cables from the amp. If it powers up, the wiring needs to be checked. If it still shuts down, the amp likely has blown output transistors.
