Question about Maytag SAV571EEWW Washer

Maytag washer blows 1.5A fuse in back of the top compartment where the dial etc is

Maytag washer top load keeps blowing 1.5 A fuse in the center back of the compartment on top with all the electronics (i.e. the dial). Sometimes when I pull the knob to start the washing machine on a cold cycle the fuse just blows immediately. I replaced the electrical value for the cold water but that did not have any effect on the problem. I have replaced the fuse several times and every so often it blows again. This last time I replace the fuse then plugged it back in (I had forgot to push the know back down) and the fuse blew right away. My last fuse. With this fuse blown the washing machine does nothing. I looked at a very old model and it didn't seem like it had a fuse in that position. Not sure what that means if anything.

There is a micro switch next to the fuse. It is shorted out. Replace the micro switch and solve your problem.

How to repair maytag washer so it stops blowing fuses

The problem may not be with the washer, you may have it plugged into a circuit that made to carry the load. Check the owners manual to see if it tells you what the draw is and then see if that circuit is made to carry that large of a load

I own a maytag atlantis top load washer model LAT4914AAE and the fuse located behind the knob controls blows when ever i go to wash a load

Hello,

The reason the fuse keeps blowing is because one of the two switches their where the fuse is is bad and drawing to much amperage so the fuse blows. THe lid switch/fuse asm comes together and it should be replaced.

The part number for that switch assambly is 22001682 it could be purchased at your local appliance parts store or online at;
searspartsdirect.com
apdepot.com

HI,
I have found the possible cause to your fuse problem, I would suggest replacing your lid switch to the unit, this can cause you fuse to blow. Item #3 below is the switch Part# is 22003804, I and hopeful this will correct the problem for you. Is part should con with the Item #7 in the picture also, replace them both, made even be a different color. I think gray is the color right now.
I hope this helps kidlmo_5.gif

Fuses keep blowing out

IF water is not going in the drum It sounds like the water valve coil has finally failled , It has been blowing fuses ,because the ccoil on the water valve was getting weak . change this water valve and you sohould be ok , but before doing so chaeck to see if you have the proper voltage going to this valve when It is calling to open ,if the power is there and the water is turned on the valve should be letting water in the machine . you can also take a ohm meater and check the valve for proper resistance . . If the machine is up in years I would change this valve . from the chack I mentioned earlier . hope this helps you

Maytag stackable w/d

Yes, it is inside the front washer lower front panel. Turn off poawer to unit and change w/ 1Amp 250V (regular of slow-blow). Then try only opening washer lid door with full dial pushed in (that would be the 'off' position. Only open/close lid w/ dial in off position. If washer works normally, may have a temp solution. Mine started this way, but ultimately the double relayed door lid switch was going bad and I had to replace it. Instructions/pictures below. Good Luck

Fuse keeps blowing out in my maytag washing machine

the power surge probably shorted out something in the main wire harness or fried your motor. remove the screws from the control panel and look for any wires that are discolored, charred or disconnected. in the event you do't find it there trace the wiring thru the cabinet looking for the same thing. if you don't find that, replace the motor
