Question about RCA D61W135D 61 in. TV/DVD Combo
We have been having multiple problems with our Samsung TV and the latest problem the repair shop can't seem to correct. When the TV has been off for a while, it has a very loud snap when it is turned on. Once on it seems fine. There have also been instances where it will continue to snap every few seconds until you turn it off and turn it on a few times. Any assistance you can provide would be most helpful... thanks!
This sounds like a high voltage discharge is occurring! Ask your repair guy to check the PTC and all the chassis return circuit black leads and the integrity of the connections to the discharge "spring" across the back of the picture tube. It could also be caused by poorly connected or incorrectly seated wires from the EHT transformer to picture tube pcb. These are dangerous voltages ( 20000 + volts)we are talking about, under no circumstances should an unqualified person attempt this kind of repair, also as after checking all connections, the final test must be with the set open in darkness for observation purposes.
Good luck with this one
