pls. check the internal speaker audio cable is ok or not. and also check the audio cable is connected on the audio section of motherboard.

I had the same problem; my laptop's speakers suddenly stopped working but I could still use the headphones and sound was fine.
I played around a while and searched the net; and I got them to work:
Open Control Panel- Sound, Speech, Audio Devices-------->
1) Audio Tab
2) Under 'Sound Playback' hit Advanced
3) At the bottom where it has Speaker Setup change it to "Laptop Stereo Speakers" (mine was initially on "Desktop Stereo Speakers" for some odd reason)
Problem solved, Thank God (Alhamdulilah)!

try with headphone to check if sound is working or not
if not go to control panel
got to sound
if everything is fine in sound settings
go to this link and download sound drivers again
