Question about Acer G205H Monitor
I switched my Acer Aspire CPU and monitor at the same time. Then, a "no signal" message popped up. However, DVD player and the fan is still working.
Check for a loose CPU. You video will never work independent of the CPU. I assume you used CPU thermal grease. Also double check memory. Additionally, not all CPUs work with all motherboards even if they have the same socket. Try another computer on the monitor. I personally never do more then 1 change at a time to isolate the causes. You may also have a loose cable. If your monitor was defective you would not get such a message from it. It would most likely just be blank.

SOURCE: Acer AL1916W 19" problem
Hello mat78, Unfortunatelly the problem is hardware based. You will need to have the monitor repaired in a service center. Here's why: LCD/TFT monitors don't produce light themselves. They are composed by a matrix of transistors (TFT - thin film transistor) that have the property to reflect or allow some light (certain wavelenghts)to pass through them. They don't produce light by themselves. Instead there is a fluorescent tube (neon like) light inside the monitor and that's the light source used in order for you to see what's on the screen. A flourescent light is suposed to last pretty much, i don't think yours has a problem, you say it works for some seconds or so. Instead your problem is most probable with the inverter circuitry that powers on that light. It's a common problem among these types of monitors but in your situation i don't think it will be an expensive repair. In the case that the screen is dark (in a dark place you can't read or view anything on it) but if you apply light to it ( a flashlight or something) and you see something, then the problem is most likely to have occured with the invertor. Try to ask at a local service center for a repair, this shouldn't be an expensive procedure. Hope this helps.

can you test your monitor on another computer to verify the monitor is at fault? If the monitor is at fault its time for a new one, factory warranties on monitors are usually 1 year unless you purchased an extended warranty.Otherwise repair is usually more costly than buying a new one.

SOURCE: acer al2016w monitor
Based on publish specs of the Acer AL2016W its maximum resolution is 1680x1050. If the PC is fine then perhaps the issue is that the PC is set to display higher than the 1680x1050 max res of the Acer LCD. What is required is to lower down the Screen resolution of the PC. This can be done by booting into Safe Mode (on boot, press and hold (or tap continuously) "F8", display will be "Windows Advanced Options Menu", use up/down arrow keys to move to "Safe Mode" and hit the Enter key. Right click on any clear area of the desktop and click on Properties, click on the Settings tab and move the Screen resolution to 1680 by 1050 pixels or lower. In some cases, you may need to lower down also the Screen refresh rate. Reboot.
hope that this be of some help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.
Good luck and kind regards.

Quickly go to the Acer website and check FAQ's and while there also find out how to get an RMA to return it. My guess is you have a bad monitor. At $200 roughly for a replacement I would hustle. I am assuming you got nothing but a white screen but did get video on your TV.
