Question about Samsung LN-T4071F 40 in. LCD HDTV

1 Answer

HD image doesn't fit in the screen.

I can't get a full HD image to fit in the screen. Widescreen Std Def works fine (ATT U-verse). When I switch to HD (720p or 1080i), the image is too large and I don't see the edges. The TV is set to 16:9. I can't find anything that tells me if the input is 16:9, but I got this service within the last year, so it must be. This is a new TV to me - I used to have an old CRT style. Could the technician have chosen some option that suited the old TV but not the new (HD flat panel)?

Contact your cable operator and get the settings on Set top box adjusted. This will help you fit the image

SOURCE: Picture Is Too Big for Screen

Sounds like your cable box is zoomed in, I run into this a lot when running service calls. On most cable provider's remotes there is an 'aspect' button next to or around the '0'. Try that and see if it helps you out at all :)

How to resize picture on a magnavox mwc20t6

Look for a setting called Aspect Ratio. It will include options like 4:3, 16:9, Zoom 1, and Zoom 2. Then click through the options to select the correct one for your program. Usually older SD programs will use either 4:3 or Zoom 1, while HD programs will be set to 16x9 for Widescreen hi-def viewing. There should be a button on your remote labelled Aspect Ratio or Picture that can toggle through these image modes.

Picture problem on panasonic Vierra plasma tv

It looks like you are saying standard definition pictures do not cover the screen like HD pictures do. Standard def is formatted 4:3 and high def is 16:9. They are not the same so your high def screen is made to display the not as tall but wider high def picture. In order to fill the screen with the taller and not as wide 4:3 aspect ratio std def picture you must tell the TV to stretch the picture or otherwise fill the screen. The TV will have controls you can exercise for this purpose and you can set it up to always show std def in a particular manner. The alternative, if you want the standard Def picture to look true to form, is to view standard def in Letter Box form. It's appearance will then include black panels on the sides of the picture. So the problem is not with the TV but in accepting older format pictures playing on newer format displays (TVs.)

On your remote there should be a ZOOM button that will strech the screen to full screen it may not be a desirable look but most formats today for HD tv is widescreen format also in your menu system you can change this as well. thanks for using fixya please click the accept button.

How do I adjust the picture to fill the screen

i was having problems in the tv menu getting full screen. no matter what i did there was two black bars on each side of the screen. i have att u verse so i went into the cable menu to options. In the options tab i went down to system options then to aspect ratio. in this screen you get a few options like 4:3 standard definition and 1080i on high def screen. I chose 1080i high def and then played with the zoom function on my remote and the problem was solved. hope this helps

Full screen view

in order to get the full HD experience you should be using HDMI cables. if you're using the white/red/yellow cables then your HD channels will not broadcast in full HD and you'll be stuck with the annoying black things around your screen
