Mower Sputtering Repost with Another Question

I have a brand new(2009) LT1500 riding mower, 42 inch deck. I have only mowed once with it. When I was about done that first time, I had to drive around the block with it to mow the alley, blade disengaged and running about half throttle. . It started sputtering about half way, never died. I shut it off and checked everything, looked ok. Started it up and it ran fine while I mowed the alley. Did the same thing on the way back to the house. What could be causing the sputterring? Vapor lock? Carbeurator can't need cleaned yet. I put new fresh gas in so that can't be it. Any suggestions? Thanks! Comment posted on May 20, 2009 It does seem at times to not shut the deck off all the way. Is there anything I can do to correct this or will it improve with time?

The warranty covers parts only, is what I was told, and the closest serviceman is 50 miles away.

It's brand new so that means you have a warranty. Don't even hesitate to take advantage of it.

Thanks for the info. I will make sure I never buy one.
That said, I would imagine the most likely solution (assuming you had turned the choke off) to be adjusting the air/fuel mix on the carb. Adjust after engine has reached full operating temp.

Will an older 42 inch murray riding lawn mower deck interchange with an older rally riding lawn mower deck ?

Mower decks are very specific to the tractor. Unless it was the same manufactured mower, and just branded differently, then not likely! Belts are your next problem as even an inch longer or shorter will cause problems.

While cutting grass with sears craftsman LT1500 17.5hp 42"deck why is mower losing power within 2 min after I put in gear and begin to now. I have to keep shifting up to a higher gear in order to mow

First check your air cleaner for clean filter. If that's clean then ajust your valves. Start with intake and exhaust set at .004 each. I think this will fix your problem. GOOD LUCK FRIEND.

Change blades on riding mower

Your owner's manual should give you full instructions on removing the mowing deck from your tractor....once it is off, should be a simple matter of turning the deck upright and removing the bolts which hold the blades to the spindles and replacing the blades..... ;-D

Sharp turns mower didgs in ground or on unlevel ground

If you have the owners/operators manual that came with the mower, it will have instructions on how to LEVEL the mower deck. That sounds like your problem. Deck wheels would greatly help also by stabilizing the deck so it doesn't bounce and "float" so much while mowing.

Brand new Craftsman 19.5 HP Riding Mower Sputtering(Manual Trans)

The hose you reconnected was probably for the air to the air filter. Check to see if while the hose was disconnected it pulled grass or dust into the air filter. Check the air filter, try running the mower without the filter. If it runs then replace or blow out the air filter. Hope this helps.

Sputtering Mower

It might not be disengaging the mower deck all the way off. I had this problem on an older model.
