Question about Audio Players & Recorders

1 Answer

Don't know how to connect to amp or power up.

I have recently purchased a used Technics st-5l tuner and Amp but have no idea how to connect to one another. I have the Amp working fine but I do not know how to power up or connect the Tuner to the Amplifier. There is a Power Socket on the back of the Tuner as well as a 2 core cable and an interface that fits the top of the Amp. Does the Tuner need a separte power supply or does the interface provide the power?

Thank you rggshwb2913 for the response but when the Tuner is stacked onto the Amp i.e. the interface is connected, there is no power to the Tuner; I suppose the Tuner could be duff though. Does anyone know what the 2 core cable is for and what is the Power socket for?

I have a technics ST-X933L tuner as part of a separates system and the volume on the amplifier has to be turned up to almost full volume to be heard. All other inputs are playing at the expected volume for...

You can answer the question by jacking the tuner's outputs into any other Line Level input on your amp/receiver. If it's still low, the tuner is at fault.

BTW: NEVER use full volume as a test unless you intend to blow up your speakers.

We like to change the time in a Tuner/sound

On the right side of the front of the sound processor press the "TIMER/CLOCK" button. The massage "CLOCK" will appear on the display. Then press the"SET" button. And by using the "^&V" (UP&DOWN) buttons the day and then the hour and minute will be set. In the end press the "SET" button. And that's all.

Having a hard time connecting various audio components

Yes, it is a little tricky...

1) CD Changer (output) -> CD input on Amp

this is tricky... this will allow you to record to your tape deck, and control the sound via the EQ:
2) Tape Deck (tape out / recout) -> TAPE PLAYBACK on EQ
3) Tape RecOut on EQ -> Tape 1 Playback on Amp
4) Amp Tape 1 RecOut -> Tape Deck Playback / Input / RecIn
in essence, your creating a loop starting from the tape deck, going to the eq, then to the amp, then back to the tape deck to record.

Your EQ has another set of LINE IN and LINE OUT - use the second Tape 2 on the amp to create another loop. This will
allow you to control the EQ for any of the other sources.
5) LINE IN on EQ -> Tape 2 RecOut
6) Tape 2 Playback on Amp -> LINE OUT on EQ

5) Radio Tuner (output) -> Tuner input on Amp
6) DVD/VCR Combo Output -> AV/AUX on Amp

7) PC Computer... you don't have room for this. You can either use the PHONO input, and you'll have to purchase a Line Level Phono Converter
or, get a Y cable and split the signal and share with some other source.

Hope this helps.

Technics ST-X302L tuner - Unit not powering on

i have the same unit and a similar problem, after a fall of the tuner on the floor while i was cleaning my room, first times the st-x302l was powering fine but after some minuts it quit alone.. now (i dont know why) it remains on but if there is an interruption of electricity it dont turn on anymore, it turn on only by removing the metal chassis and moving random the electronics.. i think it has some electronic contact or circuit break.. i brought it to a specialist in electronics and he told me the reparation would be too expensive so i prefer to try fix it by myself.
