Hoover mach6 the brushes don't turn

Hoover mach6 the brushes usually don't turn. Sometimes for a few minutes they will rotate but not strong enough to pick up anything off the carpet.

You need to replace your belt(s). Your model has two belts. They can be found here:

Hoover Mach 6 Flat Belt

Hoover Mach 6 V Belt

The flat belt is the one that usually wears the fastest. You are supposed to change it at least once a year.

Replace the skinny belt, but here's the kicker. turn the belt inside out so that the writing is on the inside and sits against everything. Thats what I did and I have used it once and it worked well, Lets hope it'll keep working.

What causes my Shark Vacuum to work only intermittently?

If the brush roller operation is intermittent, there may be hair jammed inside the end caps. The brush roller can be removed and the end caps also for inspection. Intermittent operation also can be caused by a stretched drive belt.
The periodic failure to pick up may be caused by something such as a ball of hair migrating through your vacuum cleaner and stopping from time to time to test your patience

Brushes don't rotate during floor cleaning

Check that no strings or other debris is clogging the brush wheels. If it isnt that check that the belt isnt broken connecting the brush to the motor. If that is ok, most likely the motor is blown and not turning the belt.

The brush wont rotate on my windtunnel vac but it still has suction. Could this be a broken belt?

Yep - that's usually the culprit if the brush stops turning. However, pull off the skid plate (bottom panel) and make sure you haven't picked up any string or some other obstruction that's wrapped itself around the brush & stopped it from turning. Things like hair/string don't always end up in the bag/bin sometimes if they're long enough they just wrap themselves around the brush.

I have the Hoover, self propelled vacuum. I have only used the self propel function a few times, but our babysitter used the feature and now the vacuum only works on the highest carpet setting. The middle...

Move the carpet height control switch to a higher position if the vacuum is difficult to push. If the setting is too low for the carpet being cleaned, the brushes press against the floor preventing the vacuum from moving easily.Set to a medium-high height setting then check.Slide the "Self-Propel" button to the "ON" position if the cleaner does not self-propel. -----------
The self-propel feature operates only when the cleaner switch and the self propel button are both ON. ---------- Try this settings and check. This should help.Thanks.Helpmech.

I cleaned filter and the brushes are still not rotating.

Hello,
I would advise you to ALWAYS to FIRST UNPLUG YOUR VACUUM before beginning any service procedure. It probably is not the filter that will start the brushes turning again, it may be a few other things. There is a switch in the front that indicates brushes on and brushes off, and the switch could be broken, it could be that the brushes come in an assembly and the assm could be belt driven and you would have to replace the belt or the drive mechanism the turns the brushes is broken. These are just suggestions and you should check the schematic in your owner’s manual under trouble shooting. If you don’t have a owner’s manual, please feel free to contact your local vacuum cleaner dealer in your area or in the yellow pages, or contact the factory phone number or website to further assist you with your questions.

I USED MY HOOVER 3 TIMES...THE BRUSHES DO NOT ROTATE.

Hello,
I would advise you to ALWAYS to FIRST UNPLUG YOUR VACUUM before beginning any service procedure. The best thing if the brushes are not rotating is to change the belt on the vacuum because the factory belt sometimes can be stretched out and or the belt could have broke and needs replacement. If the vacuum is less than one year have them check the brushroll / belt to see id the brushroll make be defective and might be possibly be covered under a Hoover factory warranty. The belt change should be done every 4 to 6 months for the best cleaning and to use the genuine belts for the best cleaning. So if you need further assistance, please feel free to contact your local vacuum cleaner dealer in your area or in the yellow pages, or contact the factory phone number or website to further assist you with your questions.

Hoover steam vac model 7210-900

Did you clean both filters? There is one on the tank and the other is from the bottom, it ha a red frame, pull it out to clean. Pull the brush block out, is the shaft that goes up into the machine broken off? If so replace the brush block. While it is out, trn the machine on and see if the square hole up where the brush block goes, is turning. If not then the turbine has gone bad. You can sometimes clean the turbine out, otherwise replacing it may be the best option.

My hoover wind tunnel vaccum has a hepa filter that is supposed to be self cleaning but continues to plug up. it is not easy to get to and takes forever to clean it out so the suction is strong again.

do you have the SELF-CLEANING, rotating HEPA filter?

I just fixed my HEPA filter not rotating!!

It involves taking apart the vacuum HEPA area. All screws are the same size. There are a LOT of 'em. Really straightforward putting it back together too.

ok, once you take the HEPA canister area off the vacuum, careful with the wires! Unplug them from the controller board. You open up the HEPA chamber by removing more screws until you see where the motor that turns the filter is mounted on the side. Remove motor from the green chamber. Note where the washer goes. Once the motor is off, you'll see that the center hub that drives the HEPA filter is rounded out. What I did was jam little bits of aluminum from a pop can into the space between the circle and the square to force the walls back to square. I started by folding a little piece of aluminum over and over so it was about three layers thick. Jammed that in. That wasn't quite enough thickness so I shoved another piece with it. If you can find something that is about 4 times the thickness of a pop can aluminum, that'd probably work too. Slight wedge shape on the tip would help. Any sort of tiny shim.

To test your work, just put a couple of holder screws into the HEPA cannister housing, plug in the cover/switch, plug in the HEPA moter. Turn it on for a few seconds to make sure the filter turns. Then you can add more thickness to the hub or put things back together.
