Toshiba 32'' C3030 Loss of Digital Channels

We can only get Analogue reception. The screen is blank on Digital reception and when we press the Menu or Set Up button there is a delay, then the Menu/Set Up box only appears for a few seconds then disappears. Does the Digiboard need replacing? TV engineer say this could cost £150-£200 if that is the problem. Any suggestions?

I have exactly the same problem as Marv151. All digital functions are not working, HDMI DTV. In digital viewing mode the menu symptom is the same, but in analogue the menu is fine, but obviously cannot access the digital features.
Another interesting fact is that you posted your problem yesterday and my tv failed 2 days ago! is there a Toshiba conspiracy? hehehe....

  • marv151 May 22, 2009

Problem is these TV's can be bought for £250 on ebay.

  • Anonymous May 22, 2009

Same problem started on same date!! Mine's a 37'' C3030

    Any clues?

  • marv151 Jun 30, 2009

Nessiefawcet, yes mine was resolved free of charge after 4 weeks by a software up date on a memory stick inserted into the TV.

  • marv151 Aug 26, 2009

Peterclay65 - keep on to Toshiba. Their local TV repair agent eventually came out with an update on a memory stick for no charge. It is definitely a known fault.

I have exactly the same problem happened around may/june time digital stopped working can't access menu every time it comes up for about a second or 2 then goes off, AV channels still worrk and analogue still works. I phoned toshiba last night (25th August) and they said it's not a known problem and that i would have to pay to have it fixed myself, i said that it is a problem with an update that they sent me and they said that it doesn't matter and its my problem not theirs, I have since sent them an angry email and am awaiting reply

Thanks for the support, I have just recieved an email from Toshiba stating that "We have done extensive research into the problem and have only recently found it to be a common fault with a very simple procedure to repair the problem. The repair will consist of a simple software upgrade. If you can call the Toshiba Technical Support Team on 0844 856 0730 who will be more than happy to book your Toshiba TV in for repair free of charge even though your product is out of warranty."

so I will be ringing them tonight to sort out.

Normal 0 Hi Marc and Zedos,
You've probably sorted this by now but in case you haven't, or somebody else is suffering, here's what I discovered: The same thing happened to my 37" C3030 on the morning of Friday 19th June. I'd only had my Toshiba for 21 months and it cost me £700 so I was not happy. I emailed toshiba.helpdesk@toshiba-tiu.co.uk expressing my outrage (and also that I knew I was not alone in this) and they quickly responded with a customer service address to write to. I wrote my letter and was rung the same day that it arrived by Toshiba with an apology and agreement to repair my television free of charge. This was effected yesterday, and the problem required a software update. We changed over to digital in April and I had no problems so I don't understand why I suddenly had no reception on June 19th. The software patch is on a little disc that the repairer brought with him and inserted into a hidden slot in the Toshiba. He told me that he's had to do it to lots of televisions, but this was his first Toshiba. He normally charges £50. I think it is crazy that this is happening and charging people for something outside their control is outrageous.
Hope this helps,
N

How do I set up this TV for receiving digital channels

Hi, it the tv has an integrated digital tuner it is simply a matter of going into the settings menus available from the remote control and electiong autotune, the set should then serach for / intall the chanels and the you will save the search and that is it...done. The set may have the option of eaither digital or analogue reception in which case you should select digital and then search for the tuning options menu in the settings screen.
For people who do not have digital reception, digital channels can be got by obtaining a digibox, a DVB receiver. This would be connected to the tv via a scart lead. On switching the tv and digibix on the box installation guide will take you through the installation procedure. It is all very straightforward

How do i tune the channels on a toshiba rc3910

Hi
Before tuning the set to auto tune mode, make sure the antenna or cable, whatever may, connected to its appropriate sockets at the back of the set firmly. To make it autotune:

As new services are broadcast, it will be necessary to

re-tune the television in order to view them.

Auto Tuning will completely re-tune the television

and can be used to update the channel list. It is

recommended that Auto Tuning is run periodically to
ensure that all new services are added. All current

channels and settings, i.e. locked channels, will be
lost.

[1] Select the SETUP from the main menu by using

Up or Down buttons. Press OK and Setup menu
will be displayed.

[2] Select the Installation from the Setup menu

by using Up or Down buttons. Press OK and
Installation menu will be displayed.

]3] Select Automatic Channel Scan from the Installation

menu by using Up or Down buttons and press OK.

A screen will appear warning that previous digital

programmes and settings will be deleted. Select Yes
and press OK to continue with the Auto tuning.

The television will start to search for all available

stations. You must allow the television to complete

the search. When the search is complete the Auto

tuning screen will display the total number of
services found.

* After search is completed for digital channels, a

message asking whether to search for analogue
channels appears on the screen

** Press the OK button to search for analogue

channels. The following menu appears on the screen
for analogue channel search
OK.

I have grundig lenaro 32"tv

Sounds like you're only viewing analogue channels.
Go into Menu and find Inputs and select & choose DTV. This will restore reception of Freeview (Digital TV) channels.

Hopefully, if you were to press the menu button and somewhere on the screen will be DTV. Select DTV and then you can run search again.
Hope that makes sense.

I bought a TOSHIBA 32KV500B tv. At the Initial Installation mistakenly I selected "yes" for 'do you want to search analogue channels?' guestion. And then I lost all my automatically selected...

I had this problem and searched the internet for hours looking for an answer and was given the initial same reply as this and it does not work. To solve this problem all you simply need to do is press source button on the controller followed by pressing the DTV/USB option. All your digital channels will come back to you and you will find the menu setup options you are looking for!!!

I have lost digital reception. I can play DVDs and get analogue TV.

You need to make sure your reception is strong enough to receive digital reception otherwise you will only receive analogue reception and dvd playback ability is normally nothing to do with the TV's reception.
Ensure you have strong reception before doing an auto tune to search for the channels. Good luck.

Intergrated freeview not working

It's a corrupted firmware, dude. As you may have "automatic firmware update" activated, your tv auto-updated itself at night and, when you tried to turn on next day, you realised the screen is blank and the menu is inaccessible. The only thing you could do now is go to a Toshiba technician and ask for a firmware update. It will solve your problem, as far as it solved mine too. If you don't have guarantee, they'll probably charge you for the update... but don't worry: it mustn't be very expensive.

Good luck.

Digital channels have stopped working, only blue screen!

Try resetting the TV:

  1. Switch on TV and switch to any analogue channel.
  2. On the TV: Press and hold the MENU button.
  3. Menu screen will appear on the display.
  4. Do not release the MENU until the menu screen disappears.
  5. TV will go blank for about 60 seconds and then display initial set up screen.
  6. Follow the on-screen prompts to re-tune the TV.
If this does not work then the problem is likely to be a loose ribbon cable or main small signals board inside the TV.

My new TV is set for cable. I do not have cable, I have an anten

Sansui TV's come from the factory set for CABLE. If this is a HDLCDVD320, you will have to go into the menu to change the signal type to AIR, then run the automatic search to program in your channels. Their free customer service line is 800 289 0980.
I hope this helps.

No Analogue or digital channels!

Hello - I just posted something too. Not sure if its the same problem as yours. If you get a response from elsewhere, please let me know. I'll do the same. In our case we have a blank screen with a bar running across the top of the screen reading 'No signal' on left side and 'C611' on the right side. The 611 might be the last channel we were on !
