Question about HP Color LaserJet 2600n Printer

1 Answer

Blue and Yellow Streaks

My office uses the HP 2600n. We have a high volume of color printing we need to do and after about 100 pages we will get two or three blue lines (about 1/2 - 1in thick). We have our cartridges filled at Cartridge World and don't know if it is the cartridge we are using or if it is just a crappy printer. The more and more I search for a solution online, I find others have the exact same issue...when you open the front of the printer, the film on the cover is drenched in blue and yellow ink. Anyone have an idea as to how to clean it? I'm sick of spending money to have it cleaned every time something goes wrong.

When doing the refill, they may not have emptied the waste bin and may be overflowing. You can shake the cartridge horizontally and gently to evenly distribute the waste in the waste bin.

Ink "banding" on hp laserjet 2600n

Viscosity of the ink is likely your problem. Sure the inks are not leaking at the same time, but that is likely because the different colors use different tints which can be slightly thicker or thinner. Many printer manufacturers (HP most notably) makes many patents on their ink, and not solely on the colors, but also the viscosity. The ink jets could slowly be leaking and might need to be replaced, finding these parts yourself might be easy, but replacing them is not.
I'm going to assume you've replaced the blue and suggest you remove the roller and clean it with glass cleaner. You may find it EXTREMELY difficult to remove the roller, so I would probably find a printer repair/ sales shop. Usually these places are not easy to find, so you'll probably want to find an office equipment sales business. These are the companies that usually sell the larger copier/fax/printers for large offices, or you could call HP and ask where a certified HP printer technician is in your area. I will tell you though, the cheaper ink may have just caught up to, having a copier technician repair this printer could cost quite a lot, but doing the job yourself, could be disastrous. The amount of small screws, easy to break plastic tabs, and interesting clips, etc make the job nearly impossible for a novice.
Good luck -Skyler

A very thin light blue line appears on all printing jobs

Have you tried running some printer cleaning sheets through it? They are available through Office Depot, Fry's and other stores.

Also, it could be an issue with the imaging drum. I've worked on several printers which have had a similar issue and they needed the imaging drum replaced. Typically that helped.

Every page covered in magenta and black won't print across the page

This is caused by toner contamination in the laser scanner unit, it is quite a complex job removing and cleaning the laser scanner. I would suggest you contact HP regarding the repair.

Red and Yellow colors are playing up

It's normally caused by dirty scanner mirrors, the machine will need to be dissembled, the laser scanner unit removed, taken apart and the mirrors cleaned. Unfortunately it is quite fiddly getting the scanner unit out, but this is a very common problem for the HP colour laserjet 2600's

HP LaserJet 2600n

It sounds like it, but before you replace it you might want to troubleshoot this through the HP Toolbox (the software would have come with the printer) if you haven't got it, download it from (it's straight forward and easy to use)
