My outlook will not send messages - Computers & Internet

It started yesterday. The send & receive processes but the messages don't get sent. I don't get an error message, the messages are just sitting their and if I try to close Outlook I get a warning that I will lose my messages if I close Outlook. But I did receive your e-mail through Outlook.

  • georgiasplc May 20, 2009

That did not work but while trying I noticed the send & receive continuously process cycling through the four messages like an endless loop. Then it timed out with an error message 088004218

  • georgiasplc May 20, 2009

    It is (Ox8004210B)

  • georgiasplc May 20, 2009

Some have attachments but not all of them. I am using Outlook 2003

  • georgiasplc May 20, 2009

I Wish I could tell you that your solution worked but it didn't.

  • georgiasplc May 21, 2009

I did the test and it completed successfully. I sent myself a test message from another computer and received it just fine. I have never has a problem receiving and up until two days ago had no problem sending. I have not changed anything or added any new programs.

  • georgiasplc May 21, 2009

I was able to empty the out box but I sent the e-mail from a different computer and it was received. I then opened e-mail one by one and sent them successfully. I guess that must have fixed it.

I have three other computers that are giving me problems. I can see myself using FixYa again.

Is it possible to ask a question regarding something that popped up while trying to resolve this problem?

  • georgiasplc May 21, 2009

While trying to solve this problem a registry cleaning program named RegCure downloaded to my computer. It said I have over 1000 problems but they could only fix 2 of them unless I purchase the program. Do I need a program like that and if I had purchased it would it have fixed my problem?

  • georgiasplc May 21, 2009

Is their one you would like better than others?

  • georgiasplc May 21, 2009

It must have because my problem is fixed. I am very pleased with the results and give Fix Ya two thumbs up.

I am guessing from your earlier posts that you have tried many things to get outlook to send your messages.
My first question would be has anything changed? If not lets try these steps.

You should try to go to your outbox and then open each item and “Save as” draft. Or you can save them to the desktop. This will save your messages in case you have to close outlook.
After you have saved the messages, delete the outgoing messages, but make sure that you have the copies first.
Then open up the tools menu, click on options, click on the mail setup tab, click on “E-Mail Accounts”
Select the account that you are fixing. Double click to open it.
Click on the box that says "Test Account Setting" (Middle right)
That should let you know if outlook is working correctly.
After that, I would try to send a small message to your email just as a test.
Let me know if these steps work.
We can go on from here.

Were you able to save the outgoing files that are in you out box?

After saving them, try emtying the out box and send yourself a message from that computer using outlook.

I have had this problem with certain mails that will clog up the out box.

Let me know if this helps.

I don't think that it would have fixed this problem with Outlook. But a registry cleaner can be a good thing to have and use. The big payback is speed and a backup of your registry.

Hello there

Had same problem with Outlook and Yahoo after changing ISP. Turns out the new ISP (O2 broadband) blocks port 25. I had to change the outgoing port to 587 to get it working. try changing your out going port to 587.

Hope This helps. Please don't forget to rate me.

Many Thanks

When did the problem start? had you done any changes? did you just create a new account into outlook or what happened?

Do you have a error message? if so what is it?
Who is your email service provider and what is your email address?
also who is your internet service provider?

Try going into the outgoing folder, open one of the messages that should have been sent, look it over and click on send it again. Does it send it now?

  • Ekse May 20, 2009

Can you double check that error code, please write it exactly as it appears in outlook.

  • Ekse May 20, 2009

    Few more questions

    Do the emails have attachments?
which version of outlook are you using? 2003? 2007? or outlook express? other?

  • Ekse May 20, 2009

So you haven't tried closing outlook? You might loose some messages, close outlook, restart the computer, open up outlook and try sending a email, to me for example at nikoht@gmail.com see if it goes.

    - the operation timed out waiting for a response from the sending (SMTP) server

if the problem is not solved, the issue is most likely at your email service providers send mail server (smtp server)

But do the above and get back to me.

I can't turn on Outlook. I tried to send an email

First of u should know about he limit of attachment, if its ur orgazniation email account then u should ask for the attachement sending policy most organizations r allowing only 5 mb attachment to send, if you r using gmail with outlook then gmail will allow u to send up to 20 mb attachment. before u cancel the message from the outbox u need to cancle the send/recive once that cancled u will be able to easily delete the message from outbox.if you r not able to open outlook u need to close ur outlook from taskmanager , open the process tab and close the outlook.exe session. or you can restart your computer and open ur outlook. u can open ur outlook safe mode to delete that sending file.

Outlook express is trying to send a message with a lot of photos attached. It is unable to do this. How can I delete this message.

Hi,
If your Email is trying to send as soon as you start Outlook Express, you might try this:
Open Outlook Express and go to the top menu, click TOOLS then under that menu, OPTIONS. Under the GENERAL tab, uncheck the box for "Send and receive messages at startup", then click OK.
Close Outlook Express and start it up again. Hopefully this will allow you to delete the Email. Good luck!

Unable to send e-mail, keep getting an error message

Are you using Yahoo or other 3rd party email or a client (like Outlook)? If you're using Outlook (or other client) you need to re-setup your email address and password so Outlook can connect with your email source.

Hi All

if you are running XP then open up explorer and go to

C:\Documents and Settings\*your user name*\Local Settings\Application Data\Identities\{65C0EAFC-BB65-4A91-A733-2B5FA75AFB49}\Microsoft\Outlook Express

then delete outbox.dbx (Make sure outlook express is closed)

then start Outlook Express and try to send an e-mail again.

Forwarding emails using Outlook 2003 Professional

I use Outlook 2003 and sometimes have a similar problem with messages I forward.
It only happens though with messages I receive in an account that is not my default account and which configuration (SMTP server, security, etc.) is different from the default account's.
And it happens because Outlook forwards messages from the email account the message was received, not from the default email account.
So if you have different accounts configured in Outlook, you might want to check the SMTP servers and security configurations of email accounts other the than default account (which seems to be OK since you can send emails).
You can also direct Outlook to send your forward messages from your default account and not the account the resent message was addressed to.
Hope this helps.

Have you tried the repair option in Outlook? From the help menu, you can choose Detech and Repair. Also, you can choose to repair all of Microsoft Office from the Control Panel, Add and Remove Programs, find Microsoft Office, and click change. Then You can choose to repair.

This sounds like a virus. there are no settings that allow messages to double-up. Run an Anti-Virus that will check your E-mail aswell as the rest of your software. Hope this helps.
