I am going to try some contact cleaner on these keys, the circuit board to keyboard appears to be glued. I guess it was considered a replaceable part in it's day.

  • 7 Answers can open your keyboard from the back of it..those little screw..un-screw them..then..carefully open can see plastic board there..actually 2 pcs..just clean it with a dry paint brush to clean off dust..or you can wipe it gently with a wet cloth or wiper sheet...get ride any dust or dirt specially on those numbers..then gently put all things back..if this doesnt solve your problem..try changing your keyboard coz it may be broken already...key board are usually dispossable..hope i contribute something here..

7,8,9,0 --- well, taking it apart and cleaning it may very well do the trick.

do you know who spilled the orange juice (or similar sticky-when-dry) fluid on your keyboard? Most likely no one will 'fess up.

So, contact cleaner might help, but I think that a little carefully applied soap and water may do the trick better.

Naturally you want to be sure the cord is disconnected from the keyboard -- you won't get shocked, but you are trying to solve the problem, not create more.

If you can pop the keys off without causing damage you may be better able to clean it.

You can even get more aggressive with the soap and water if you wish, just as long as you be sure it is dried thoroughly before using it again.

A hair dryer would help to dry the unit, but DON'T USE THE HEAT on the air dryer, you only want an airflow.

If you have any doubts as to whether or not is is dry, let it sit for a day or so over the air conditioning vent.

If it is not something gumming up the works, and the problem is indeed electrical the unit is scrap. With four consecutive numbers out it sounds like a spill or a chip to me.

good luck

Where can i find the product key in my laptop

However, if you've lost your product key, all hope is not lost - your Windows 7 key is stored in the registry but is encrypted and not readable, making finding it difficult. Luckily there are several free programs that can help.
Manually locating the Windows 7 product key from the registry is nearly impossible due to the fact that it's encrypted.
Note: The manual techniques used to locate the product key for operating systems like Windows 95 and Windows 98 will not work in Windows 7. Those manual procedures will only locate the product ID number, not the actual product key used for installation. Lucky for us, several free programs exist to help find product keys.
Any product key finder that locates Windows 7 product keys will locate the product keys for any version of Windows 7: Ultimate, Enterprise, Professional, Home Premium, Home Basic, and Starter.

Number keys on my mac laptop stopped working

Two possibilities -
• go to System Preferences > Universal Access > Mouse and if Mouse Keys is "on" turn it off.
• NumLock may have become enabled. To toggle that on/off, hold down Shift while pressing the "Clear" key, which is located immediately above the 7 key on the keypad part of the keyboard.

7,U,J, & M keys have stopped working. Laptop is stored in case, and has not had anything spilt on it. All these keys seem to have failed at the same time.

Unseat and reseat the keyboard into the slot that the ribbon cable goes in. If that doesn't work then go ahead and take a can of air and blow some air underneath the keys to make sure no dirt or dust is affecting the keys.

If that doesn't work then the keyboard is defective and would need to be replaced.

Keys on laptop stopped working

it may be a result of pressing these keys too hard although 7 key is unusual unless its one you use all the time but I do nitice that hese keys are grouped near vetically and so it may be the circuit secction of the keyboard. I think in this case the repaitr man may be the best option.
