SOURCE: Knife touching heating element in water, began smoking

a complete model number will help immensely, please...
unless the knife cut through the outer shell/covering of the heater element, or melted to it the worst its gonna do is be really hot..
disconnect from power and remove the kick panel below the door and see if you can move the main motors splash shield with your finger, if not motors seized..
if so motor could still have a burnt winding, but you'll need a multimeter to test it..
good luck, have fun,
thanks,
chuck

Bosch she56c02uc dishwasher does not cycle, stuck on wash

If the display is stuck on 2H it often means the heater is not working. If the water is not heated, the cycle will never complete. It is possible the heating element is bad, but a more likely problem is with the control module PC board. The solution requires some basic repair and soldering skills plus the tools to do the job. Bosch recommends re-soldering the connection to the heating element relay (see page 11 of "SHU/SHI/SHV Dishwasher Troubleshooting Tips") free download here The problem is that the circuit board copper is not heavy enough to handle the heating element current, causing the copper to heat and melt the solder connection. A better solution is to solder a short length of copper wire between the two pins to provide more copper and reduce the chance of heating as shown in the attached photo.

Melted a spoon on element. What can I do to remove plastic on element

The way to remove it is you need to raise the temprature of the element to the level when the spoon melted, not so easy of a task, but nothing else will do it.

I would fire the element, and be ready with a damp terry cloth towel, and wipe the spoon free. Another way would be to use a propane torch, but you MUST protect everything around the element or you will cause more damage.

The key is that you have to acheive the same temprature that melted the spoon, and it will release and leave little, if any residue..

Knife touching heating element in water, began smoking

The problem you have is that with the heating element energized with 120 volts to heat the water and came in contact with metal and in water, it may have shorted the element out. It may have just tripped the circuit breaker also. Go to the breaker box and you will find the breaker. It is probably in the midway position. Shut it off hard and back on. It should be fine then. Let me know if that was the problem, and if not we will go from there.

The cycle did not complete, the bottom spray arm (the tip) melted along with some plastic utensils (knife handles). Water come out of thee front door. When starting the washer again, the top and bottom spays...

The handles slipped down keeping the spray arm from rotating thus causing it to rest against the heating element. It won't wash because of the hole in the bottom spray arm. You have to replace the spray arm before nything else can be determined.

Plastic melted on Dishwasher heating element

youll have to run a whole cycle again and pay attention to when the heating element comes on again. Once its hot the plastic will be soft enough to remove it with a tight cotton rag. Use you oven mitts for protection. Hope this helps
