You most likely have some teared paper still inside.

  1. Turn off the printer.
  2. Remove any paper trays. Inspect them for wrinkled or damaged paper.
  3. Also open the back cover of the printer if this model has one.
  4. Open any other doors that give access to the printer's paper path and to the toner or ink cartridge.
  5. If necessary, remove the toner or ink cartridge. Place it away from light/ sun light to avoid damaging it.
  6. If you find a piece of jammed paper, remove it by holding it with both hands and pulling firmly. The goal is to keep the paper from tearing. If several pieces are jammed together, try pulling out the middle piece first to loosen the jam.
  7. If the paper does tear, try rotating the roller gears manually to free the paper. Don't force anything, though. Do this step especially if the jam message comes up repeatedly without any obvious paper jam, there may be a small tear of paper inside.
  8. Ones the printer is free of paper Replace the toner or ink cartridge and paper trays, close any doors you opened and turn the printer back on.
  9. If the printer paper jam message still appears, then there is still some paper in the printer. Reinspect the paper path.
  10. see alternative solutions if the problem is still not solved.

alternative solutions:
Load a piece of thick paper, for example photo paper and press the resume button (may be diffrent button on diffrent models) a few times to the printer picks up the paper and puts it through the machine.

How to perform a mechanical hard reset A mechanical hard reset is performed when the printer is in a condition where its normal printing process is interrupted. Examples include a paper jam, printer carriage stall, or mechanical noise. To perform a mechanical hard reset, follow the steps below:
  1. Turn off the printer by pressing and holding the Power button for one second.
  2. Remove the power cord. Wait for 10 seconds and then reconnect the power cord.
  3. Turn on the printer by pressing the Power button. Wait for the Power light to quit blinking and stay lit.

If even after all these steps the problem is still not solved please drop me a comment for further assistance.

Thanks,
Ekse

try putting that thich paper through the machine and see if it helps.

this will probably not work with your printer but is worth a try, careful, I can't guarantee any positive or negative results with this method since its for another machine.

if noting has helped your printer may require repairs, contact hp for repair service or your dealer. Also check your warranty.

Paper Jam Error on HP Printer

Paper Jam is the most common issue in all the HP Printers ( Officjet, Photosmart, Deskjet Printers )

What Causes a Paper Jam ?

  • Paper thickness.
  • Room temperature OR due to Dust in atmosphere or the room.
  • Paper pulled out in a hurry and paper pieces stuck in Rollers or Carriage
  • Could be Hardware Failure

Follow the instructions below to resolve Paper Jam issue.
  1. Turn off the printer.
  2. Open the rear access door ( or duplexer )
  3. Check for any bits of paper stuck, if so, remove them.
  4. Open the front access door where you see the cartridges.
  5. Check for any paper pieces, if so, remove them.
  6. Take a lint free cloth. Little bit Damp ( use water )
  7. Clean the Rear rollers pushing it upwards and close the door.
  8. Close the front access door.
  9. Connect the power cord and power on the printer.
  10. It should be ready to print/copy/scan/fax.
To clean the duplexer ( 2 - sided printing device ) remove the duplexer and clean the rollers you find inside.

Always paper jam on lcd display, even though that the jammed paper was already removed.

If the jammed paper is removed and still show paper jam it means tiny piece of paper is left over in the printer you can use a low pressure vaccum or blower to remove the paper piece before using the blower remove the toner and remove the power plug and the usb connector after cleaning conect the power then the usb then power up printer then in computer click the printer icon in the task bar and remove all the contents then click start settings printer and make your printer default printer right click the default printer and click properties in printer properties click print a test page

This error indicates that the paper path motor stalled. Clear the paper jam, power off the printer for 30 seconds and then turn it back on.

Here's how to clear a paper jam from Xerox website, depending on the location of the paper jam: http://www.support.xerox.com/support/phaser-8560mfp/support/enus.html?operatingSystem=win7x64&fileLanguage=en

Paper jam but there is no paper

If the paper jam message wont clear, there is something blocking the sensor in the paper path leading the machine to think there is paper. Check the paper path for torn paper. Locate the paper switch/sensor and make sure it is clean and unobstructed.
If the jam message clears but when you go to print it comes back, you may have dirty feed rollers. Clean the rollers with a mild detergent or soapy water and a clean cloth. Do not use alcohol, this will dry out the rollers and shorten their life.
