New Hard drive

I have just ordered a new hard drive for my Toshiba laptop. It is 250GB 2.5'' SATA 5400 rpm. I bought the new drive from a Toshiba dealer and the actual HDD is a Toshiba make. I have noticed that the damaged HDD in the computer is a Fujitsu make. Will this cause a problem in installing the new drive when it arrives and how difficult is it to actualy install a new drive? Does one just use the installation back up CD? Thanks in advance.

Make sure you de-static yourself before touching either the HD or computer and make sure you take the battery out and unplug your laptop before you do anything. To de-static yourself, plant yourself in one spot, touch a piece of metal and make sure you de-static yourself then begin.
Your new HD shoud work just fine, Its a very easy to install, once you find and uninstall the exiting one, youll see its a peice of cake.
You'll need to reinstall your operating system after your new install.

The two hard drive names will not make a difference and are compatible. Installing the new drive is not all that hard assuming you have all the programs and the OS. Using the back up OS will be your best bet. Just install the hard drive and then place the back up disc in the CD or DVD drive and boot up the computer. This will act as a temp OS system loading basic features allowing your system to recover from the disc. Just follow the on screen sinstructions and your on your way.

If given the choice make sure you select format the new drive the recover disc may do this for you automatically.

Let me know if I can help.

Joe

TIP: If the old drive is accessable picking up a SATA to USB connector will allow you to use the drive as a slave in your computer to recover some of your saved files stored on your old drive.

The brand of HDD is irrellevant. as long as its the correct type 2.5" SATA. Install the new drive, and boot to your recovery disk or windows disk, whichever you have. If using manufacturer recovery disk, your all set

Please rate my solution. Thanks

How can I install toshiba sata drivers when Win7 64 bit is installing?

Look in the bios setting and see if the 500g drive is listed under the advanced tab. Then make sure the 500g drive is first choice for looking for the boot disk. Have your os disk in then save and exit.

Most definitely. If the drive failed a S.M.A.R.T. test or DFT (drive fitness test) then replace the drive and re-install your OS, drivers etc.

What is the max hdd capacity I can install in a HP ZD8000 laptop?

Your computer uses ATA drives which topped out around 250MB simply because manufactures switched over to SATA drives. It is a pain to change out disks on laptops since you can only have one internal drive. You then have to reload everything.
Here is one I found: Western Digital Scorpio Blue WD2500BEVE 250GB 5400 RPM 2.5" ATA-6 Internal Notebook Hard Drive -Bare Drive
  • 250GB
  • 5400 RPM 8MB Cache
  • ATA-6

I'd consider one of the external USB disks instead to store your data, pictures, etc. You could then put it on your desktop or on a new notebook.

You can change the region code on your DVD player only 4 times, then it will lock on that region permanently.

Please check the connection inside maybe it is just loose. If that is SATA connection that is prone to disconnection but if that is IDE cable inside maybe cable loose contack. Try to open the PC and then pull and insert the cable firmly. Restart the computer.
