I have an Asko 10505, the machine will fill with water but the drum will not spin to wash the clothes. I can hear the motor going through its stages, but nothing is happening inside the drum. In order to pump out the water, I need to manually turn the knob to #9.HELP...

Hi,
I am the new owner of a used Asko Cylinda 10504.
The last owner briefly demonstrated the washer starting a wash cycle and entering the agitation cycle of the wash before stopping and pumping the water out and spinning in a final end cycle. I bought it. I had the machine installed turned it on and cannot get it to go through the wash cycle. After starting at #1 it goes through a perpetual spin cycle of sorts--water and soap soaking the drum and laundry but not enough water to fill up half way or less. It stops at number 4 on the program knob sits on a red dot (next to the #4) and does nothing. I then manually move it to the next cycle and it repeats the spin cycle again until I have advanced the program to the end. No wash cycle no rinse cycle. Nothing. When it advances to the red dot I wait for at least 5 minutes before manually advancing the knob. The instructions say that I should get the water pumped out by turning the program knob to #7 or #9 but in both cases it just spins and does no empty or finish in the end spin cycle of several (9?) minutes. Nothing but banging and spinning. The water seems to get into the drum as well as the detergent but nothing else is happening.
No mater where I start the program it spins and sloshes soapy water, pumping almost nothing out.
Any suggestions short of putting it on the curb or paying a kings ransom to fly a tech out to look at it?

MY GUESS.
It seems that it is repeating the same brief cycle over and over. During the move to my house the electronics re set(??!?!?) and now need to be set to the normal mode after being re connected?
Can you help?
Blessings,
Douglas

I had this happen. There is a little white plastic piece with 3 prongs in it in the motor. It was broken. it was about $50 to replace but well worth it compared to a new washer.

You don't mention if the drum spins if you choose the spin program, if it doesn't it could be the brushes on the motor. This would be a cheaper option to try first rather than a board. sometimes you can clean the com or tap the brush carriers gently and get the motor to spin on an empty or small load.

If you're confident, with the power offer and machine isolated you can check the resistance across both the brushes and slowly rotate the motor as a test.
hope this helps

Hi,

Check for drum bearing failure if your washing machine is noisy on the spin cycle. Drum bearing failure is common when the bearing seals start allowing water to enter. You can take the belt off and spin the drum by hand, and if the drum rumbles, replace the bearings. Turn the drum by hand and listen for loud noises. If the drum itself is split or the 'spider' is corroded, broken or has come apart from the back of the drum it will create a loud noise on every turn of the drum. (When the bearings have gone bad, the noise is constant the entire time the drum is spinning.) Look for obvious dents and creases in the drum or look for coins or small objects stuck inside the tub underneath the drum when a horrendous noise is made while clothes are in the tub. Clear the water pump from obstructions like coins or small objects when a noise occurs while the washing machine is emptying water. Remove the sump hose and look for bra wires if you hear a light scraping noise when the drum is turned by hand. You can also check to make sure a wire isn't poking out of one of the holes in the drum. In this case, you can pull the wire out easily with pliers. Take the belt off and run the motor alone if you hear a high pitched squealing noise to check for motor bearing damage or wear. If you still hear the noise without the belt, it's the motor bearing.

Asko 10505 washer will not spin

Hi, 2 things to check for. Obstruction in the drain pump or faulty drain pump, brushes in the motor worn out. The easiest way to determine the pump issue is answer this question. Does it drain ? Next, turn the timer to the drain/spin cycle, obviously it should drain & spin and advance to "off". The next thing with these 10505 asko is to see if the drum rotates in both directions in the wash/agitate portion of the cycle. You can just select the short wash for this (I forget if it's #4 or #5) If not, it's worn brushes. However, you'll have to make sure the armature isn't damaged before simply installimg new brushes. We can cross that bridge when we get there. Let me know. Hope that helps, though those are just the most common problems there could be others. Good Luck

Asko 10505 not agitating or spinning

not a solution, I have had the same problem due to family members overloading the machine, in fact I have it now which is why I am on here. Previously I fixed it by cleaning the deposit left on the rotor caused by the brushes. It worked before but not this time maybe the brushes are now too worn. This is my second set of brushes I replaced a set after about 10 years of use. From memory there is not a huge difference between a completely new motor and a set of brushes so I may go that way now as the machins is around 15 years old

Leaking inlet valve on Asko 10505

Unfortunately, the only way to be 100% sure this won't happen again is to replace the inlet water valve. Especially if the problem is intermittent. You could live with it if you turn off your water taps when the machine is not in use.

WMA54 Hotpoint Aquarius drum does not turn during wash or spin

Start checking the lid switch, if this is stuck the machine wont start.

If the drum does not move at all, the motor, the motor control unit, the motor coupler, the control board may be faulty.

For more details you need to observe if machine is draining and pumping water inside during cycle, see: It doesn't spin

hi sir' start the wash machine empty and see if it happens when nothing is in it.
2. When machine is off, open the top grab the centerpiece inside the wash machine and pull and push it slowly, does it move? (For safety unplug the machine)
3. Make sure machine is 100% level (front to back, left to right)

The most common thing is bad drum bearing, which force the wash machine out of whack when in spin / wash. Which are common and the best thing is to call Maytag.

Front load washing machine would not spin now won't wash either.

Sounds like you have a broken belt or a bad motor. The easiest way to tell if the belt is bad is to reach inside the drum and turn it. If it turns very easily, you probably have a bad belt or something has caused the belt to jump off, such a s a loose pulley or bad bearing. If it feels like there is a good amount of resistance, or a kind of "winding up" noise, then the belt is still on and you likely have a bad motor. Also, you could just scoot the macine out, unplug it, and remove the back cover a look inside to see if the belt is still on the pulleys. Good Luck!
