Question about Kenmore Dishwashers
The first problem was an E2C2 code. I found the drain pump hose hanging off the tub. Reattached it and still had the code E2C2. Let the dishwasher dry out for a couple days and the unit started working. A couple weeks later the drain hose worked its way off the tub stem again. This time I attached it with a better clamp. When I reconnected the unit, the code F4E1 showed in the display. I can't get it to restart. I was sure to remove as much water from the dishwasher before working on it to avoid any water from getting on the electrical connections

I had this problem and eventually found a small piece of mussel shell in the bottom part of the machine, it seems they are very sensitive to the tiniest fragment of debris.

Haven't tried your solution but I'm keeping it in mind. I talked to a repairman and he suggested I remove the panel at the bottom of the dishwasher (left side). There I will see a red button which is the control board processor reset button.
This worked but if the problem reoccurs I will try your solution as it is easier than removing a panel.

Look at your manual, usually available on net for reading or downloading. Blink lights are often used to code out a problem with various combinations and repetition rates to indicate trouble code number for look-up in manual.

More than likely the filter is clogged, remove the spray arm(there is a threaded cap in the center of the arm twist it to the left, then remove the # 15 or 20 torx(star shaped) screws out of the filter cover(around the edges)The filter is round and runs around the outer edge of the pump housing it lifts right out, clean it and reverse the process. It's the most common issue with not draining on this model.
