You can go into your control panel and set your own settings for how you want your laptop to react when shutting down and so on.
Driver Detective is a good source to get updated drivers.
If you did a complete reinstall, you should do a long format when reloading, otherwise if you have a virus it may still be on your machine.
If you cant resove your issue, and you think you might have a virus, you can email me and I can walk you through it.l

Sounds like a driver is missing. Go to Device Manager and check there are no issues. If there are, delete the problem drivers and reboot. Windows will reload any missing drivers automatically from the original install disk or ISO.

As soon as turn computer on it says operating system not found -- i can get it to go to one other thing and it ask for HDD user password which i have no earthly idea what it can be

1. i hope you have backed up of all your data from the HDD.
2. format the HDD and reload the OS - but this time, make sure that you have atleast 2 partitions.
3. keep all your important in the second (non-system) partition.
4.after you have reloaded the OS, please get a good anti-virus and anti-spyware application and scan your computer regularly with them.

Hello,

If you have reloaded the operating system recently or the issue is because of the currupted driver than you have to reload the drivers again.
For that you visit hp compaq site and supply with the model no. and you will get the downlaod.
If not able to do so please post your compaq's model no. on forum and I will be more than happy to help you in this regard.

Thanks

When i reinstall my window it seem that the sound went missing

You can try going to IBM's site and downloading multiple sound card drivers for other models within 2 years of yours. They miss and match devices alot like Dell and HP does. Extract the drivers in seperate folders on your desktop and point the browse to one folder at a time until you kind the correct driver. I believe IBM will take your call free for issues like these even out of warrenty period.

External display not displaying!

When you are able to view a video clip on the external monitor, We can rule out the issue with the software. Probably you need to check the connections and also the external monitor settings in the display. The reload might have changed the old setup

Corrupt or missing file??

Here is a solution, but be aware that your data may or not be lost. Follow the prompts carefully.
At the Acer splash screen, you can press Alt and F10 (at the same time you would press F2 to enter the BIOS) to bring up a DOS style version of eRecovery.
· The unit is able to reload Windows from this mode faster then from CD.
· The password by default is 000000 (6 zeros) and it is displayed when you are asked for the password.
· Users are able to change the password in this mode for eRecovery only.
· The system can recover from the hidden image on the hard drive (PQService partition) or from CD/DVD media.
· It is possible to reload from the factory style CDs/DVD or the snapshots that the Windows version of eRecovery creates.
If I could be of further assistance, let me know. If this helps or solves the issue, please rate it.
Thanks, Joe

check your control panel/system/hardware/device manager/display. open, right double click display, properties box will open look at lower section to see if it is enabled, if not enabled open drop box highlight enable click ok, if it is enabled go to driver tab reinstall driver. do the same for sound.
if you google computer driver updates you can find several places to download from. hope this is helpful

Code 39 for dvd drive

You can solve this problem by going to start, then run, type regedit. open hkey_local_machine, then system, then control, then class, then 4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318, once in this go over to the right hand side and delete upper filters and then lower filters. restart your computer and your dvd/cd-rom drive will work properly, if you look in device manager there will no longer be a question mark and it will tell you all is working correctly.

Cant see files in the system

the sansa players have 2 usb modes. mtp and msc. when you are saving songs in one mode, you will not be able to browse the files in the other mode. the preloaded tracks are usually in mtp mode. To switch mode, go to Settings in your MP3 player. Then choose USB. Auto Detect is also MTP.
