Make sure that the DVD you are trying to copy is not copy-protected.  Most commercial releases (movies, TV shows, etc. that you buy in the store) are protected from copying and can cause errors like the one you describe.

I don't know how to download cd's and dvd's on dell EL-1210-09

What do you mean download cd's and dvd's? You don't download them, you simply put them in the drive and play them. If you purchased a music cd or a movie dvd that you want to play or watch, then just put it in the drive. The system will recognize it and automatically open Windows Media Player for you to play it or you can open it yourself if autoplay is not active.

Exactly what is it that you are trying to do?

If you are talking about putting a blank cd or dvd into the drive to copy music or a movie to it, that's another story and will take a while to explain. You will basically need to make sure your CD/DvD drive can burn CD's or Dvd's. Then you will need some type of burning software (later versions of Window Media Player will burn).

Click Start/My Computer and look at your devices. if your DvD/CD Drive is listed look for RW which means rewritable (it can burn or copy). If it say DVDrw it can read and write dvd's. If it says CDrw it can read and write cd's. You can also look on the drive door on the computer where you would place the cd or dvd. If it says Rewritable CDrw (it can write cd's) or DvDrw (it can write dvd's). If it says ROM (read only media), that means it can Read Only and not write.

If the drive is rewritable then the software such as Media Player will allow you to go find what you want to put on the cd or dvd. You have two ways of putting things in the software to burn or write. You can copy and paste, or you can drag and drop.

How come when i try to burn a dvd it stops at 94%?

If that happens all the time no matter what blanks you are using, then probably the problem is with the burner itself. Is there any error message shows, or it just freezes? Try to copy files from some movie DVD to the hard drive in some temporary folder, will it stuck also? If yes, then in the burner there's something physically blocks the head from moving out of center to the end of track. Try another burner.

I'm getting this error code ( 0xeb020b88) when I'm trying to copy a cd.

Dude,Its very simple. Its nothing to worry. You havent used your DVD drive so frequently. There might be dust, debris or other contaminants from the laser lens that may cause skipping while write process. Get PHILIPS DVD Lens cleaner and run it once. Your problem will be solved.
I was facing the same problem for a weeks time, when my friend suggested me this.It worked well.

Cannot copy files to DVD disks

First of all you should have the recording tab ON. Have you tried burning using Nero instead of dragging and dropping? This may solve the problem.

However, if you prefer to drag and drop, try setting the write speed to a slower setting, even if the dvd burner has faster write capabilities.

1. I do not think it is a hardware issue.

2. You can try replacing the IDE cable, but if you can read the contents of the disk it does not suggest a communication issue between the drive and mobo.

3. I do not think that the burning software is to blame, when you drag and drop you are actually using a windows based burning software that is installed with the operating system.

4. set up your files to burn through nero, let the software do the work.

I had the same issue with my dvd burner, although slightly different error messages, solved it by using nero instead.
