Hi - I have a wierd problem - when I try to press the power button to turn off the monitor nothing happens. If I press any other button I get the "Adjustment Lock" appearing on the screen. I tried press the Power button and the Menu button at the same time and holding it but still nothing. When I cut the computer off - the monitor act normal and the monitor goes into the sleep mode and the orange light come on. When I turn the computer back on the green light comes back on and the monitor is fine. I would just like to be able to adjust the screen controls and maybe sometime turn the monitor off. Any help you could offer would be greatly apprecated.

It seems that you are having problem with the LCD on the laptop. This may cause by an electrical charge in the motherboard itself,Im not really sure how it affects the display of the computer. There's also a possibility that the problem is with the LCD cable or the LCD itself. Please follow this method since it usually fix such problem like that,
1.Removed the battery then unplugged the AC adapter
2.Press and hold the power button or the ON/OFF button for at least 30 seconds
3.Connect the power supply back to your computer then turn it back on.
4. Check if you will see any difference.
5. If nothing happens, try to press and hold Fn and F2 on the keyboard.
If nothing happens, there is a possibility that the problem is with the LCD or monitor itself, maybe it will need a replacement...
I hope this information will be helpful. Thank you for using FixYa...
can you please try to power drain the laptop, removed the battery and the unplugged the charger then press and hold the power button or the on/off button for 15 seconds, obviously it will not turn on since there is no power supply connected, after 15 seconds, connect the laptop direclty to the power outlet without using the battery just for the meantime, then power on the laptop, see if theres any difference, if nothing happens, there is something wrong woth the monitor itself.
try to press and hold Fn and F8 - this is to toggle screen setting to ext and back to LCD on laptop. if nothing happens turn off computer by pressing power button, unplug the ac adapter, remove the battery. remvoe residual electricity from computer by pressing power button 10 times. just plug again the ac and leave the battery out. Pres and hold the letter D and while holding that press the power button once and release both of them. it will perform the built in self test on the lcd. if nothing happens, turn off computer. press anf hold Fn and while holding it press power button. it will perform diagnosis on computer. if still nothing happens need to repalce motherboard and LCD.
The monitor is not receiving signal from the computer. Is the power light on on the computer? If so - press and hold power button on computer until the power light goes off, then press again to restart. If the computer starts and you still have no picture it is most likely a video card or motherboard problem.
I didn't have the monitor connected to the computer, and that's why the power button was unresponsive. After connecting it, the solution above worked for me.(My KVM switch was set to a computer that was turned off)
