I think first it was showing "ERROR 342" (not shore about the 342), then (in another day) the above message.
no other details to give.

This error can be resolved by clearing the print cue for that printer at the print server if its a network printer. If this is a local print just do the same at the computer, clear all documents that is in the cue for print and that should cover you:)

My Dell M5200 printer says 900 Service and RIP Software. I have restarted it several times and checked the menu - all looks o.k., but it won't print. It sounds like it is going to and then the above...


900 RIP error message is a generic error.
In order to understand when it's coming from you have to give more information.
Does it happen when printer is printing a job from a PC, or when it just stands alone idle?
In first case it's probably a job that is generated by the driver which cannot be properly "digested" by the printer. In this case, press select and return on the OP as soon as you get the secondary code message and write it down. Then call Dell support and tell them about it.
If the printer is getting 900 RIP error when being idle, I'd recommend disconencting it from the network for a couple of days to see if the error appears. If it doesn't, then it's something from the network which is causing the problem. Perform the same procedure of collecting the secondary code and contact Dell.
If it still gives 900 RIP error when disconnecting, then it's one of the hardware part which is causing the problem. It might be an option such as a drawer, or a memory unit, or just a main board. try disconnecting one by one the options and see if the problem goes away. Whenever it comes back, collect the secondary codes.

Lockups and 900.00 Service RIP software errors on C534N printers.


are these printers hooked to surge protectors? 900 rip error is a software communications error and can be caused by any pcb in the printer. any surge, lightning strike,ect can cause the nvram chips to have problems these errors can be intermitten or continuious depending on the damge to the nvram. have you tried isolating any of these to see if it still has the problem off the network?

The print spooler service is not running.


Reinstall the printer drivers will shore it up quickly the spooler has to do with the printer so do that and you should be fine.

900 RIP errors are errors in the Engine Code. There is an EC1 file available at: http://support.lexmark.com/perl/support/support.cgi.

Download and install the file by following the link on the above page, first error discription.

you need to let the unit get tempered to you home environment before using the device being left in damp or warm areas can overwhelm the device if plugged straight in, leave it in your home for upto 3 hrs before using it you may need to reset it if the service code comes back up, hold the power button down on power plug inserted, for 10 seconds. but only do this when the printer is at your home humidity.

1.) press function then # u reach SERVICE MODE
2.) arrow right until TEST MODE confirm with Start / Enter (green button)
TEST MODE [1] - [8]
3.) press # ... u reach AMI MODE [1] - [*9]
4.) press 7 ... u reach FACULTY [1] - [6]
5.) press 6 ... .u reach LOST INK CHECK...confirm with green button...
u get [1] - [2]....
6.) press 2 u reach SET LOST INK CNT....confirm with green button...
u get LOST INK = 100 (in my case it was 100 ..this was the error..)
7.) press 0 (the digit zero..) confirm with green button...
8.) wait a few seconds....the unplug and reboot....

this worked in my case....
