Disk error (by 6 users)
Won't read any disks, have cleaned it, tried multiple disks starts to read then it says disk error

SONY SLV-D350P DVD/VCR Combo:
When disc is loaded, "Loading" is displayed on monitor, and disc spins for about a minute. Disc stops spinning and "Stop"...then "Error" is displayed
on DVD display. Message window says: "This Disc cannot be played...Check Disc." Tried another good known disc with same results. Also cleaned Laser Lens with special cloth. Unit is about 3 years old, and randomly developed this problem without warning.

it wont finalize the disc it will do it sometime its a big problem

A similar problem occurs on my machine. It will record OK but when finalizing it errors after a few minutes and renders the disk unusable and unreadable. The unit is only 6 mo. old but has several hundred hours of record time. I will be sending it back to the factory for warranty repair.

Why would a practically new laser go bad? I can see it being bad out of the box - stuff happens. But the laser should not go bad after only 10 or 20 hours of use, or even 100 hours!
