Backup copy of DVD's will not play on SD-V392 or SD-V290

A similar problem occurs on my machine. It will record OK but when finalizing it errors after a few minutes and renders the disk unusable and unreadable. The unit is only 6 mo. old but has several hundred hours of record time. I will be sending it back to the factory for warranty repair.

    SONY SLV-D350P DVD/VCR Combo:

When disc is loaded, "Loading" is displayed on monitor, and disc spins for about a minute. Disc stops spinning and "Stop"...then "Error" is displayed

on DVD display. Message window says: "This Disc cannot be played...Check Disc." Tried another good known disc with same results. Also cleaned Laser Lens with special cloth. Unit is about 3 years old, and randomly developed this problem without warning.

Why would a practically new laser go bad? I can see it being bad out of the box - stuff happens. But the laser should not go bad after only 10 or 20 hours of use, or even 100 hours!

I had the same issue with this DVD player. I noticed the problem after running the firmware upgrade. I could do nothing to fix the problem and neither could the Phillips support line. Luckily I purchased an extended warranty, too bad the player went out before it kicked in. The one 1yr Phillips manufactures warranty had to replace the unit with a new upgraded model.

Thanks, I can hear the disk spin. It also makes a knocking sound every 5 seconds while it tries to finalize until it errors and then stops. It's very quiet when just recording. I was thinking the spindle had worn down enough to cause the disk to not spin true anymore but I didn't think about the laser going bad. If it wasn't under warranty I would open it up and see for myself.

What is the most likely cause of a "NO DISK" error with the Onkyo DX-C390 6-Disk changer? Would it be the laser pickup assembly?

Could be dirty laser lens, dying laser, faulty component,
Due to the complexity of multi-disk changers, it may be best to have the device looked at.
You can try running a cleaning disk through it first, but from your post, it sounds like this unit may have multiple problems and need tested by a physical person.

My pioneer car stereo DEH-P77MP won't play cd's anymore. the radio still works, but on the screen it says cd error AO or A0. i was wondering what problem this code relates to? hope you can help,...

This is a common error with these units when they get dusty from putting dirty disks inside the drive. Just go to your local staples and or walmart and get a 5 dollar disk player cleaning kit. It looks like a plain cd but has small fibers that come out of the bottom of the disc that clean the laser as it spins and tries to read it.

Hi. The carousel loading belt probably needs replacing - that's why you are "helping" it.

You could try cleaning the cd lens too if it's not selecting an reading cds.

HTH

Replacement belts and laser units are on ebay.

I AM HAVING ERROR EACH TIME I TRY TO PLAY A CD.

When your CD does not read any disk, and returns error, that is usually because of a problem with the optical laser lens that is dirty, faulty or opaque, or a faulty spindle motor unit.

If it is a lens problem, then you will hear disk spinning, whirring and clicking, but the TOC (table of content track at start of CD/DVD will not be read, therefore the error.

Whe this problem is starting you may be able to read only few CD, DVD. After more prolonged usage , the unit will start losing the rest of functions, and ends up not reading anything at all, and returning error.

If instead there is no noise, and disk does not spin at all , then there is a faulty motor, or the motor micro-switch is bad. This situation is far less common than the lens problem.

Try first using a CD/DVD cleaner disk to clean the lens. If that does not work you will need to disassemble the player , and clean lens directly with q tips and isopropyl alcohol, or to replace the lens, or the whole drive unit.

Cd not reading

When you get no disk error, that is usually because of a problem with the optical laser lens that is dirty, faulty or opaque, and will start operating on certain disks better than others.

In that case you will hear disk spinning, whirring and clicking, but the TOC (table of content track at start of CD/DVD will not be read, therefore the error.

Whe this problem is starting you may be able to read only CD, DVD or Blue ray, or for example only DVD-R and not +R , or only to read and not to write and so on. After more prolonged usage , often the unit goes losing the rest of functions, and ends up not reading anything at all.

If instead there is no noise, and disk does not spin at all , then there is a faulty motor, or the motor micro-switch is bad. This situation is far less common than the lens problem.

Try first using a CD/DVD lens cleaner disk to clean the lens. If that does not work you will need to disassemble the drive , and clean lens directly with q tips and isopropyl alcohol, or to replace the CD/DVD RW drive unit.

It is a lens problem, the laser lens is either dirty or the lens pickup is faulty.

M-Error is a mechanical error and could have a multitude of causes. just went through it with a TAD-5160 unit where it was a small slip gear moving a tin lever to ingage the transport sled to insert or eject the disk from and to the carusel. You may have to take the unit apart and asess the problem. Harleysp.
