Question about Whirlpool AWM8143 Front Load Washer
I have a AWM8143 that has stopped during the cycle nad now flashes the door open LED.
Coming from a strong electronics service background I have checked the door switch and bi-metalic door lock and this is fine.
I found a copy of the AWM8143 service manual and my question is this.
Page 5 of 22 outlines the resistances for the motor and pins 6 -7 should read 68.7 +/-7% Ohms. This is for the speed sensor or tacho located on the back of the motor. Unfortunately mine only reads 12.2 Ohms which would indicate a short in the windings. I would have thought this highly unlikely, however is the manual correct at 68.7 Ohms ? all the other resistances measure okay.
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.

SOURCE: Whirlpool Gas Dryer
Yes, that is most likely the problem. Once the glow bar igniter glows so hot, the switch opens & drops power to the igniter.(The radiant sensor has continuity while cold & open when a flame is present.) At the same time, by opening it redirects power to the valve coils allowing them to open & gas flow to the burner assembly. The dying glow of the igniter fires the gas. However, if your igniter glows, the radiant sensor is good. In this case, you'd need to replace the gas valve solenoids.

1. First instead of just unplugging the machine, try switching the circuit breaker for that socket off for about 10minutes and see if that resolves the issue. Also pull out the detergent dispenser and reach all the way in to the
back there is a small plastic flapper valve. Move it from side to side
with your finger this will rest code.
2. If that does not work, check the drain pump..it could be clogged. All you do is take off the bottom front panel (there are 3 screws). After the panel is off, there is a turn knob right in front in the middle. Simply unscrew it and remove any thing in the "catch". Screw back (re-attach) the knob and you are good to go.
3. In the manual, the instruction for an F06 code (electrical problem) is :
Select PAUSE/CANCEL twice to cancel the cycle. Select DRAIN/SPIN if there is excessive water in the washer. Re-select cycle and press START. If the problem remains, call for service.
After that, you might try unplugging then plugging it in again.
The F06 code is generally an electrical fault. · Check wiring to motor and replace drive motor if necessary. Check the wire harness that goes to all your connectors on the Motor, MCU, and CCU. I have seen a loose wire connector do this F06 error.
If all checks ok, then its likely a faulty CCU, check your owners manual, some are covered under warranty for up to 5 yrs.
Here is the one for your model:

I believe the loud humming you describe is an electronic problem. And is not worth changing parts randomly and spending unnecessary funds in this fashion!
my advice is a hands on experience repair person that does this day in and day out!
Whirl pool units have many variables! and for the price of randomly changing two or three parts you could have a certified tech finished the repair at a lesser cost to you!
Unfortunately i can not be there hands on or I would be happy to do a hands on diagnoses for you.
Bless You ngafm.
Please leave me a good rating, before you sign off the site.
Ps. Let me know the end result and which electronic part was the culprit..
