SOURCE: Art cool keeps stopping

CH5 is a communication error between the indoor and outdoor unit. The thermistors have nothing to do with this error code. Check the communication wire for continuity, make sure it is shielded and stranded wire.

SOURCE: always wondered why there is no drain hole at

Newer models of window AC's use either a flailing fan to spin the condensate out the sides of the AC (outside the window) or the heat of unit and outside air will evaporate the condensate.

Either way, any excess will spill over the back edge, hence the reason that manufacturer's recommend that the AC be installed with the rear of the unit slightly tilted down to prevent excessive condensate (water) from building up and/or coming inside the front of the unit.

As to the icing, it could be that the unit is undersized for the space you are trying to cool and can't keep up and is running all the time in an attempt to cool the air down in the room you have it installed in. Try letting the unit "defrost" by shutting it off for awhile (until the ice melts) and then keep the shades pulled and the door closed once you restart it. I also tell people to give the AC a chance to adjust by setting the cooling temp to around 10 cooler than the present temperature of the room.

It's really hard to completely cool down a hot room all at once, so unless you're willing to let the unit cool it down in stages, it might not be able to ever get a 90 degree room down to 65 degrees in one day, if ever. Give it a try and see what happens, otherwise, you might need a larger rated BTU unit to get the cooling you desire.

No heat but fan keeps running

If the air conditioner compressor runs all the time the main control board might be defective. The main control board provides the voltage to the fan motor and compressor. These boards are often misdiagnosed. Check all other components to be certain this is the cause of the problem.

Sounds like dripping water when on

Water, or in this case - condensation will be created and drip from the cooling coils inside the unit outdoors, if installed correctly. This is a normal condition. Like a cold glass of water sitting on a table or counter on a hot, muggy day; condensation will form. The amount of condensation forming on the glass - and cooling coils of the A/C - is directly related to the amount of humidity in the air.

Some A/C units have fans that not only force cool air out the front of the unit - but also spray condensate on the condenser coils (the coils that get hot and are visible from the outside) to help cool them down.

If water is dripping indoors - the A/C is tilted inward or drain holes on the bottom edges of the rear (outdoors) are clogged. Adjust the A/C support(s) so that it is tilted back (the bottom rear should be about 1/2" or 10mm lower than the bottom front) and inspect & clear obstructions from the drain holes as needed.

I hope this helps & good luck!

Our portable LG LP0910WNR is dripping water out of the bottom. The drain plug and cap are in place and not leaking.

This is caused by 2 things. The most prevalent is condensation dripping from the cooling coils. Usually this occurs, because the coils are dirty and need to be cleaned.

The second cause, is that one of the drain tubes (usually the one from the top tank to to bottom tank) is either partially clogged or has come loose from it's connection.

In either case, some dismantling of the units outer cabinet will need to be removed to check and service it. Consult your Owner's Manual concerning removing the outer cabinet.

I hope this helped you and thanks for choosing FixYa.

the inside unit should be mounted with a slight tilt to the outside - so the water can drain outside.
also - be sure your drain hole (in the unit) is not plugged - either with dirt/debris.

C6 error code on LG art cool

Try turning the power off at the fuse box, waiting 5 minutes turning the system back on and spray some water on the vents on the side of the outside condenser. If the fan isnt spining get a twig and spin it in an anti-clockwise direction after 1 or 2 spins it should start spinning on its own. continue to hose the vents with water for another 5 minutes. Its important to have the fan spinning as it extracts the heat from the condenser box.
