How to install rear speakers in a 2001 chevy impala ls

first start off buy laying your back seats down , then take a 10mm ratchet and take the 4 bolts off. next you will need to take the rear dash out (best to use two people one to hole the bar back and one to take the dash out ) ok so once you have the dash out lift the sound proffing mat up and this will expose the speakers . press the two clips (on the left side of the speakers ) and lift up and slide to the left to remove the speakers . be sure to disconnect them before this step . once the speakers are out you will need to remove the black plate off the bottom of the STOCK speakers .best to use a knife to slice around because it is stock on with glue . once the plates are removed have one person hold the plate and you drop the speakers in to the STOCK plates. screw the aftermarket screws in tho the pre-excisting holes . once this is done for both place the speakers back in to the car and clip them in

WIREING: the stock speakers were atached with clips , these :WILL not work with the aftermarket speaks. you will need to splice them and join the givin wires to the new wires that come with the speaks ,.once joind just tape them togeather or use blue wire nuts . make sure that the speaks work before putting the rear dash back in . :)

I need to find out how to mount stereo MA-10D speakers to a wall. I can't see any mounting capabilities on the back, sides, top, or bottom of the speakers. Has anyone successfully mounted speakers like...

Hmmm. .U don't have option given for speakers to fix them onto the wall. You have to do the following steps.
Things U need are:
  • Masking Tape
  • Level
  • Pencil
  • Keyhole saw
  • UL Class 2 speaker wire
  • Fish tape
  1. Locate the studs closest to where you'd like to install your speaker. You'll want to install the speakers in between the studs.
  2. Tape the template that comes with the speakers in the center. Check to make sure your configuration is level and plumb. Your template will tell you exactly what size hole to drill to insert the speakers. Trace the opening you need to cut into the wall or ceiling
  3. Cut the hole using a keyhole saw or a drywall saw. Keep the section you cut open in case you can't install the speaker and need to patch the hole you just made. If the hole reveals plumbing, you need to relocate the speaker
  4. Run the speaker wire through the wall, or fish speaker wire from an existing installation.
  5. Install the brackets to support your speaker if one is included with your speakers. Some speakers use clips to secure them to the inside of the wall.
  6. Strip the protective coating from the end of the speaker wire, and insert it into the speaker jacks. Test your speakers now if the wires are attached to an audio source. If not, locate the other end of the speaker wire and hook it up. Testing now will save trouble if you run into problems.
  7. Surround the speaker with insulation to enhance the sound. Secure the speaker into place, and do any necessary patching or painting

Wiring into walls

Okay, here's the verdict. No such din connector for the Bose AM15's exist. I thought I would take another look to see if anything had changed since I had looked last. Once again, all is the same and it makes using standard wiring a pain. However, it is possible to do what you want to do, which I assume is a nice clean install. I have rigged many of these systems, and, here's what I do.

First, the biggest pain is the 25' LFE cable. Shortening it is a pain because the wires are thin and dificult to splice. Lengthening it isn't a great idea either because you want to keep the cables as short as possible. However, a lesser of 2 evils exist and that is to keep this cable whole. Before you begin, peel the LFE cable from the buch untill it is separated from the bundle. Next, peel the speaker wire for each speaker so the pos and neg for each speaker is together, but, separated from the bundle. Then you'll place the sub where you intend it to go, plug in the 13 pin din (I even looked at vga options...nada) and stretch the cable to the wall and cut one speaker wire at a time (+ and -) being CAREFULL to mark which wire is positive and which is negative after the cut. DO NOT cut the LFE cable, and make sure you give yourself an extra foot or so before you cut the wires.

Once the cuts are complete and you have labeled pos and neg for each wire, you may strip the wire and plug into your regular speaker wire wall plate (banana or clips). On the reverse side of the plate, attatch the pos and neg to the plates making sure everything is consistant. Then, run the wires to your receiver (or vise versa). Regular speaker wires typically distingush pos from neg through some sort of marking on the wire housing.

The other cable you will run is the sub (LFE cable). If you want to just drill a hole in the wall and stuff the cable in and run it to the receiver, that's one way, but if you want to keep it clean, use a single RCA connection wall plate. Then, to minimize loss of LFE sound, run a TV coaxial cable from the sub to the receiver and terminate both ends with RCA terminators.

Once the wires are run to the receiver, double check that all the speakers are hooked into the sub and the wiring is complete. Take a AA battery and mark the location of the speaker that corresponds to the wire. In other words, with the speaker wire, hold one end to one side of the battery and the other end tap lightly to the other side of the battery. You will hear a crackle or pop locating the speaker the wire goes to. Once this is identified, label the wire and plug into the appropriate output making sure the pos and neg are consistant.

A picture is worth a thousand words, so, I drew a diagram and will attach it to this forum asap. Good luck and have a blast!

Connection between harmon receiver and A-bus in wall speakers...

There is a CAT5/RJ45 A-Bus interface on the back of the HK AVR 435. That needs to connect to your A-BUS "hub". HK has two hub products: ABH-4000 and ABH-4 (older). Then CAT5 cable can be run from this hub to Wall-installed room-specific controls. HK has the AB-2 product, but any ABus compatible wall control will work. From the wall control, you wire regular audio cable to the speakers. So, some of the questions/issues to solve are: where do the existing wires go that are connected to the in-wall speakers? Typically that location is where to place your in-wall volume and source controls. Then the CAT5 gets wired from those controls back to the hub. And all that's required is a single CAT5 from the AVR to the Hub.
