My aunt just gave me this Baby Lock Pro Line Serger BL4-738D 4 Thread Is this a good machine.

Baby Lock is a very good serger. Have you ever used one before? If not, be sure to read through the manual carefully before you try to use it. They're not just like other sewing machines. Enjoy.

Trying to thread and thread keeps breaking when i try to use i, i am following the guide but cant figure out what i am doing wrong

Hi. Make sure you're not using old thread. Old thread, or thread that has been exposed to sunlight, gets weaker and is more likely to break. When I realized old thread was causing problems, it about broke my heart to throw it all out (I had spools of thread that my momma used.....wooden spools...but out it all went.)
Another thing that could cause your thread to break is if the top tension is too tight. You might try loosening it a bit and see if that helps.
Let me know if this helps, ok?
Happy Sewing!

I don't have a manual for my Baby lock Pro line model # BL4-738 NS. It was given to me and I have threaded it accordingly to the diagram on the machine but it won't pick up the stitch.

You will have to order the manual from a Baby Lock dealer.

This model may have to be threaded in a certain order.

Try raising the presser foot and setting the tensions to zero.

Turn the handwheel so the upper looper (the curved one) is at it's highest position - there may be a mark on the side of the serger where you align the handwheel for this.

Thread the upper looper and then the lower looper and then the needles.

Pull the threads under the presser foot and toward the side of the serger.

Set the tensions back to 4 - 6, lower the presser foot.

Hold onto the thread tails and gently press the power pedal to begin a thread chain before serging fabric.
