You could firstly run a malware cleaner like ADWCleaner first. If you want to remove, go to Start - Control Panel -Add/Remove programs and uninstall. Once finished, reboot then you are free to install fresh

If you no longer utilize AT&T Internet services and want to uninstall the program, it's not hard to do. This will free up room on your hard drive. There are several approaches you can take to remove all traces of AT&T Internet on your computer.

Removing the software using Uninstall Manager

1.Click the desktop "Start" menu.

2.Select the "All Programs" folder.

3.Click the "AT&T Yahoo! High Speed Internet" folder, then click "AT&T Yahoo! Uninstall Manager" or "Uninstall AT&T Yahoo! Applications." The AT&T uninstall manager will be launched. Click "Next."

4.Check all AT&T related programs that you want uninstalled, or click "Select All."

5.Click "Uninstall" or "Next" to begin uninstallation.

Remove the software manually

1.Select the "Control Panel" from the desktop Start menu in Windows XP or 2000.

2.Click "Add or Remove Programs" in Windows XP and 2000, or "Uninstall a Program" in Windows Vista and 7.

3.Click "SBC Yahoo DSL Utilities" and click "Change/Remove" or "Uninstall/Change." Your computer will uninstall the software.

4.Go back to the "Add or Remove Programs/Uninstall or Change a Program" screen and remove all additional programs, one at a time: SBC Internet Mail, SBC Yahoo! Messenger, SBC Yahoo! Parental Controls, Yahoo! Companion, Yahoo! Login, Yahoo! Messenger Explorer Bar, SBC Yahoo! Dial, SBC Yahoo! DSL Utilities, SBC Yahoo! DSL and SBC Connection Manager. Windows 2000 users should also uninstall BroadJump Client foundation.

Welcome to FixYa!

The XML application in your computer might be corrupted which Yahoo Messenger uses to display the chat box properly. In most cases, it is the result of a virus/malware activity.

Here's what to do:
  • 1. Download the Free Edition of Malware Bytes HERE.
  • 2. Save the file.
  • 3. Double click the downloaded file or if prompted to run the file, click yes to install Malware Bytes.
  • 4. After installation. Launch or Open Malware Bytes. (Double click on the Malware Bytes icon on the desktop).
  • 5.Click on the Update Tab and click on Check Updates (It will download the latest virus definitions)
  • 6. After updating, click the Scanner Tab and do a Full Scan.
  • 7. After scanning, click on View Results.
  • 8. Then click on Remove Selected.

Note:

The Free Edition of Malware Bytes will not conflict your recent anti-virus software because it does not have real time protection features.

Try logging in to your Yahoo Messenger again.

If this does not resolve the issue, re-install Yahoo Messenger. Since the Malwares have been removed, there is a great chance that the re-installation will solve the problem.

I hope that this will help.
Thank you for using FixYa.

I cancelled my Yahoo account..why hasn't my Yahoo IM shut down.. that was the main reason I cancelled..NO MORE IM for me..

You need to uninstall the program. Go to start, control panel, programs/uninstall a program, scroll down to yahoo messenger, click on it, click uninstall. You will probably have to restart your computer afterwards. That should be the end of it.

I can recive ims but cant send any

Hi and welcome to FixYa!

You may have hit some settings on your messenger that will not allow you to send IM. The quickest and easiest way to solve your problem is to reinstall your Yahoo Messenger.

Go to your start menu on bottom left of computer. Then select control panel. Hit uninstall program. Find yahoo and uninstall it.
It may leave the icon on your main screen. Right click the messenger and hit delete.

Then go to link provided below and install it again. When you uninstall the program, you are not deleting your account. When you have successfully installed messenger, just log in with your normal user name and password and try your IM!

Why won't IM let me sign in? It keeps going to sleep

I would like to help you with your issue. but we have to check the following first

http://webmessenger.yahoo.com/ try log into the Web Messenger

> Step 1: Test Your Internet Connection
> Step 2: Verify Your Yahoo! ID and Password
Open Internet explorer and www.mail.yahoo.com
Check by sign in to you account
> Step 3: Test Your Access to Secure Pages
Make sure that you can access secure pages from Internet Explorer
Try to sign in to Yahoo! by going to the Yahoo! sign in page and enter the same Yahoo! ID and password you were using before.
> Step 4: Verify Credentials
Verify that the same Yahoo! ID and password you used before in the last step also works in the online version of Messenger, Yahoo! Messenger for the Web:
http://webmessenger.yahoo.com/
enter the same Yahoo! ID and password you were using before.
> Step 5: Check Connection Settings
Click the Messenger menu and select Connection Preferences.
Click Connect directly to the Internet, and then click OK.

Check by Changing the connection type to a connection via a proxy server:
Click the Messenger menu and select Connection Preferences.
Click Connect via a proxy server, then under this option, select HTTP proxy, and then click OK.

Last is Uninstall all the Yahoo Tool Bars and Yahoo applications , Yahoo Messenger, and Yahoo Updates from Program list i.e Control panel - Add/Rem Programs ..
And reinstall the Yahoo Messenger again -

Hoping the above info will be useful for you

I downloaded messenger 9.0 and everything works but my im when i send an im to sumone i can see what i sent or what they said in reply whats wrong with it i uninstalled it and reinstalled a couple times

The problem is you probably had a program running when you uninstalled Messenger and its uninstalled some of the support software - This is stand alone software and not included in the Messenger download - Hence, a re-install failed to resolve it.
Check IE settings first
Click "Tools"
Click "Internet Options."
Click "Security" tab.
Click "Custom Level" button.
Scroll down to "Script ActiveX.controls marked safe for scripting"- enable
Scroll down to "Scripting - Active scripting" - enable
Scroll down to "Scripting of Java applets" - enable
Click OK
Click OK

Still not working ? Update software

use the links on this page to help update software.

http://help.yahoo.com/l/us/yahoo/messenger/messenger9/notices/mstabuguqscripterror.html After updating check you do not have old versions of Flashplayer, Shockwaveplayer and Java running alongside the latest - this can cause conflicts
Start / control panel / programs
delete any old versions

You may have scripting disabled in your Internet Explorer.
To enable scripting:
Click "Tools"
Click "Internet Options."
Click "Security" tab.
Click "Custom Level" button.
Scroll down to "Script ActiveX.controls marked safe for scripting"- enable
Scroll down to "Scripting - Active scripting" - enable
Scroll down to "Scripting of Java applets" - enable

Still not working ? Update software

Clean up your browser first - download ccleaner and run it through include "registry" from left hand toolbar - do not feel nervous about deleting so many files.

http://www.filehippo.com/download_ccleaner/

use the links on this page to help update software.

You can check what software you have loaded by using revo. Although its an uninstall tool it has a very good opening page which shows you just what software is on your computer

http://www.revouninstaller.com/

After updating your software use revo to make sure you do not have 2 versions of the same program installed and creating conflicts. For example, if you have Flashplayer9 and Flashplayer10 installed - uninstall Flash9

When downloading the free software from filehippo use the green arrow to start downloads - avoid the ads.

I cant open my yahoo messenger

hi friend,

It could be several problems. Yahoo is having a lot of problems and it is affecting a lot of people in different ways. My problem was Vista and IM9 did not work well together. I switched to IM8 and I am not having any problems now. You might want to go to their messenger website to see if you can figure out your problem.
IM help website
http://help.yahoo.com/l/us/yahoo/messeng…
If you need to download older version go here
http://www.oldverision.com/program.php?n…
You need to Uninstall it completely so you can get a clean install.

Now when you Uninstall not all of the yahoo messenger files are deleted from your Program Files, so if the problem you are having is caused by a corrupted file then the problem will still be there when you install it again.

So what you need to do is Uninstall messenger then go to your Program files and delete the yahoo folder.

To Uninstall you need to click on the Start button(the one on your task bar) then go to Control Panel then to Add/Remove Programs, find yahoo in the list and click on it then on Uninstall.<< this is for XP

To Uninstall in Vista click on start then Control Panel then on Uninstall a Program in the new window find yahoo click it to Uninstall it.

To find and delete the Yahoo folder click on the start button in your task bar then on My Computer then C: drive then Program Files then right click on the Yahoo folder and Delete it. It's a good idea to reboot your PC now to make sure it's all gone out of your system.

Now you can go here > http://messenger.yahoo.com/ and get the 8.1 yahoo messenger.
I suggest staying away from the 9.0 beta as the 8.1 version is more stable and does not have the bugs the beta version has!!!
Hope this helps!!! thanks for using fixya regads, sivaranjini

Yahoo Instant Messaging problems since I tried to download 9.0

you need to uninstall the yahoo 9.0 so you can install a lower version.
to do that take you mouse pointer to the start up menu and click on it
go to control panel on the menu and click
look carefully you will find on the menu program features click on it
go to yahoo 9.0 on the list and right click
then the program will start uninstalling

i will recommend a site where you can get the old version of yahoo messenger.
go to oldversion.com and look for yahoo 8.0
click on it and start downloading. i hope this helps
