Question about Audio Players & Recorders
I don't know how to link my new lifestyle 48 control to my lifestyle 38 system. It comes up on remote as 'no signal from media centre.
If the remote does not work as you expect
If your system does not respond when you press a button on the remote, it could be time to
change batteries. For information on the type of batteries to use and how to change them,
refer to "Replacing the remote control batteries" on page 51
In some buildings, you may experience "dead spots" where the remote control will not
operate effectively. If this happens, move the remote a foot or two and try again. Also make
sure the cord that connects the power supply to the media center (and contains the remote
antenna) is stretched to its full length and is separated from other power cords. If these
efforts do not work, move the media center a few feet to a location where it provides a better
If the batteries are fine and the suggestions concerning "dead spots," above do not work,
you may need an antenna extender. To contact Bose
customer service to request one, refer
to the address list included with the system.

SOURCE: Lifestyle 48 locked up
Just got off phone with Bose support with this very problem during install of a VS-2 software updtae to an older LS48 system. (Bose support personnel were very helpful on phone - and walked me through procedure to solve). I presume you unplugged and replugged power supply with no resolution. In that case, unplug power supply, wait 30 seconds and while holding down the "open/close button" and the "store" button (on media center) plug the power supply back in. Continue holding until the "Bose Lifestyle" message disappears. I presume this puts the system into a diagnostic mode, as the next steps in my case were to press and hold the "erase" button while scrolling through a menu of options using the "volume up" button. I believe it was the third "volume up" press that brought me to "FLASH" on the system screen. At that point I was told to release the "erase" button and press the enter button. The system rebooted and my VS-2 install went smoothly after that.
I'd recomend calling Bose support (800-905-2138) since your lockup occured during a CD load vs a software update (just to be on the safe side) - I was talking to a live tech support person in less than 15 seconds... a pleasant surprise.

I have a Lifestyle 48 and called Bose today. It is possible all you need is a cord that is a 35mm headphone jack on one side and RCA jacks on the other. You plug it into the AUX jack in the back of your system and the headphone jack in the Ipod headphone spot. I got the cord at Best Buy for ten bucks. It works GREAT!
