Question about Computers & Internet

1 Answer

I connected an external monitor to a lap top. The screen on the monitor is bouncing making all the print fuzzy and difficult to read.

When I connected my NU QL 711v monitor to a laptop the print on the monitor is bouncing and fuzzy. Is there something I can do to fix it.

Have you tried the same connection with another monitor? That will tell you if the cable or monitor is the problem. If the same thing happens with another monitor then its the computer input or system drivers.

Good day, Cyko!
Here is what microsoft has to say about that:
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/using/setup/hwandprograms/monitors.mspx
In reading through this, you'll note that they suggest that some docking devices, or a usb adapter for monitors may allow you to run multiple monitors.

SOURCE: D800 laptop will not display on external monitor

Most laptops go into standby mode when the lid is closed. To stop this, (Windows XP) click Start, Control Panel, Performance and Maintenance, Power Options, then click on the Advanced tab, select "Do nothing" in the drop-down for "When I close the lid of my portable computer"

SOURCE: acer aspire is not connecting to external monitor after system rc

If the external monitor was displaying during the system recovery, there may be a conflict with your damaged lcd screen so I would remove the cover and disconnect the cord to the lcd. Restart the computer and hope it works. -James

SOURCE: connect broken laptop screen to external monitor

I would back mothmans answer 100% but might suggest you re-assemble the display to the laptop if you continue to have problems getting an external display going.

How to view my lap top on my flat screen

Connecting an External Monitor or Data Projector
You can switch to anexternal monitor by two methods.1. Connect the externalmonitor to the laptop's video port, power up the external monitor first and thelaptop. The video information will automatically switch to the externalmonitor.2. If you power up thelaptop first then you can switch the video output to the external monitor bypressing the Fn key and one of the Function keys, depending upon your make andmodel laptop. You can also toggle between the external monitor or both LCDscreen plus the external monitor or back to LCD screen only by pressing the Fnkey plus one of the function key. Here is a list of keycombinations for some of the laptops :-IBM ThinkPad = Fn + F7HP and Compaq = Fn + F4Toshiba = Fn + F5Dell = Fn + F8

Did you use the combination keys of your laptop Fn and either F5, 6, or 7 depends on brand to select internal/external/both? You also need to make sure that the video resolution feeding the monitor is at native resolution setting.

I think my lap top screen is brok inside is it worth fixing only 6 mom old if not less

That depends on what the problem is. If it's just the screen then yes. If it is the video card then it might be a little more difficult to fix. In any case, try an external monitor and if it works then it is either a bad connection on your lcd or a bad lcd. If it doesn't work then I'd have it checked out. My lap top is showing white lines on screen which make it very difficult to use or see. But it some how inconsistent they appere for sometime and then disappeare and then reappeare.

Most likely the LCD screen is going bad. If you have an external monitor you can hook it up and see if the display looks right on it, if so you have confirmation LCD screen is going.

Check whether blue lines are present in bios screen, if Present then Hardware issue

If Blue line not present in bios screen, Software issue = Restore system back to factory settings

WD External drive not recognized on computer

If the drive was running when it fell, and it doesn't have a head locking mechanism (or was in mid-read, or mid-write and the head wasn't locked down) then your disk may have experienced a head crash. The read/write heads float over the surface of the disk. If they slam into the disk, they will make a divot, boucne, make another divot, and continue bouncing until the kenetic energy is dissipated. In the places where magnetic material is removed, you won't get any data back. You may be able to recover data elsewhere, using a recovery company, but it won't be cheap. If your data is critical, you have a good chance of recovery using a service such as Seagate Recovery
http://seagatedatarecovery.com/ They recover data from all brands and I have used them They're very good, but very expensive ($800 range)
