Champion 3500 generator how to fix stuck float

Generator starts right up.... cuts off after a few minutes. It will restart right up after I put the choke on...but will cut off again. I'm figuring it's a stuck float. The filter is new...gas is new. Bowl to the carburetor is clean. How can I get the float to work right?

It could be a carburetor problem or it may be the low oil cut off switch. Check to make sure oil level is up. If it is check the needle valve attached to the float and the seat. The old carbs used to have a brass seat. Some of the new carbs have a rubber seat and it may need to be replaced. Hope this helps.

SOURCE: Champion 3500 watt generator shuts down after 1 min. Not low on oil!

You have a carburetor problem. Stuck float or clogged filter. Gas cannot get into the carb as fast as it is used. Letting it sit for a few minutes will allow the bowl to fill.

Fuel was dripping off bottom of air filter of my portable champion generator.generator was not & had not been running & fuel tank was mt. & no hole in tank.what happened? Leo

Likely the carburetor float has stuck open or there is debris in the fuel tank that has lodged in the carb needle valve.

Try adding an inline fuel filter, remove carb bowl/float and clear/clean fuel needle valve.

I have a Champion generator 6000 starting watts modle number 41115 starts and runs for a few minutes then shuts down , has fresh gas and new spark plug.

Is the oil level good, does the low-oil cutoff switch work properly? Try bypassing the aforementioned switch to see if it fixes your woe.

The coil rope broke I would like to know how i can repair it. Generator 5500 watt champion.

If I understand correctly, you have a pull-start generator.

The rope to the pull-start broke.

This happened to us out on the job one day.

Our equipment might be different than yours. Our pull-start assembly is held with 4 bolts. Simply remover those bolts and lift off the cover ... carefully. The rope is attached to something I will call a pulley. The rope wraps around the pulley several times.

Do not lift out the pulley that the rope attaches to >> or the spring that re-winds the rope will come un-sprung (at least it did on our machine). If the spring comes unwound, then you got another job, and have to put the spring back also. Your machine might be different.

Keep pulley in place. Remove rope. Get another rope with same diameter and length and put it in.

My 13hp honda generator won't run.I have cleaned the fuel bowl, new plug, air cleaner, evan removed air cleaner assembly off side of engine,I can get it to start, after much cranking, but it will not run for...

You cleaned the fuel bowl? Was there any dirt, etc, in it? How does the fuel line look? How about the bottom of the fuel tank? How old is the fuel?

From your description, it 'sounds' like a fuel system problem. If it's a Honda EU3000is, it has Electronic Ignition, and electronic ignition usually just goes out all the way, not slowly.

The fuel line is small, and easily obstructed. Does fuel flow when the fuel line is removed from the carburetor? After the generator starts, runs, then dies, remove the float bowl. How much gas is present?

Observe the float. See if it's in good repair.
Check the float needle. See if the rubber (Neoprene) tip is squished, or is still in good shape.
Could be that when gas fills the float bowl, the float raises, then gets stuck in the up position, cutting off the gas flow.

Coleman powermate 2500 generator : engine runs good ... little to No power on recepticle ... vom reads 2. volts

Sounds like you need to remagnitize your alternator, you can do this yourself but do it like this.
FIRST AND FORMOST STOP THE ENGINE AND WAIT TILL IT MAKES A COMPLETE STOP! AND LOCK OUT THE ENGINE SO IT WILL NOT ACCIDENTALLY START.
pull the spakplug wire off the engine this WILL HELP ENSURE IT WILL NOT START. next take an old 120v power cord and cut the plug off with atleast 8 inches of wire on it. if it is a 2 prong wire or 3 it doesnt matter. grab your self 2  nine volt alkaline batteries, try just one battery first by plugging in the cord into a 120 volt receptical on your generator and make sure the circuit breaker is in the on position. MAKE DAM SURE THE GENERATOR IS NOT RUNNING BEFORE YOU DO THIS OTHERWISE YOU COULD BE ELECTROCUTED. it is quite safe as long as the generator is NOT RUNNING. put one lead on one terminal of the nine volt and the other lead on the other terminal and you will see a small spark if done right.MAKE SURE YOUR NOT DOWNWIND OF GASOLINE FUMES! if you have a 3 wire cord do not use the green ground lead use only the black and white or blue and brown. if its a two wire cord you cannot get it wrong. tap the wires on the battery terminals a few times. this shoud have remagnitised your rotor and stator. remove the cord from generator completely and put it away from kids and the incredibly stupid for safety. restart generator and plug in an appliance to see if it is making electricity. I recommend using a true rms digital voltmeter to check the voltage it should be between 110 and 130 vac rms for non regulated generator sets. if the 9 vold didnt do it you can use 2 nine volt batteries in series to flash the field. SAFETY FIRST ! ELECTRICITY CAN KILL, YOU DO THIS AT YOUR OWN RISK, I AM NOT LIABLE FOR ANYONES STUPIDIY. IF YOU ARE UNSURE HOW TO DO THIS THEN DO NOT DO IT! TAKE IT TO A QUALIFIED REPAIRMAN. LIFE IS IRREPLACIBLE SPEND A FEW BUCKS TO FIX.
