is it not recognising blank discs or even original retail discs.
you could try cd lense cleaner kit? or try compressed air to clean dust from inside(simple vac should dyson would be overkill and may do damage) if its in a pc it worth opening and checking the leads are all properly connected?

-   I have a Gateway MX6453 model laptop. All of a sudden, it will no longer detect disks in the cd/dvd drive. I THINK this is somehow related to issues I had earlier this week with dvdfab hd decrypter when I attempted to copy a retail dvd. Now, everything on the laptop says the drive is functioning correctly, but in reality it will not detect a disk when it is put in the drive. Do you think I should reinstall dvdhd fab hd decrypter and see if that helps?
