we need more information.

is it in a pc or laptop?

whats the make and manufacturer?

is it not recognising blank discs or even original retail discs.

you could try  cd lense cleaner kit?
or try compressed air to clean dust from inside(simple vac should dyson would be overkill and may do damage)
if its in a pc it worth opening and checking the leads are all properly connected?
