Question about HP DeskJet 6840 InkJet Printer
I could not print as it keeps on saying the top cover is open when it is already closed. I changed the ink cartridge and it started doing this.
Pop off the right side cover - it is just held with clips. At the hinge, you will see that the cover switch arm that is supposed to move up and down as the cover opens & closes (in the slot in the geared hinge) is probably broken off. It is in the up position when the lid is closed, and down when the lid is open. I cut the shaft of a Q-tip to length and wedged it into the space to keep the cover switch up all of the time and still allow free movement of the lid.
