I'm sorry, I worded my question wrong. When I go to copy something, not print it off the computer, only the upper left quadrant will copy. How can I fix this? Thank you for your help.

Error 98.01.01

Greetings; Our experience shows that this is an error with the firmware. One method is to clear the SSD (drive) and test again. Also, check the firmware version on your system. Print a CONFIGURATION PAGE and look in the upper left quadrant of the page for the FIRMWARE. The version should be there along with the date in YYYYMMDD format. Go to the HP.COM site and under support, enter the model and go for downloads and drivers. At the bottom you should see a download for the firmware.
The download includes direction for installation. Best of luck.

It will not print Word documents. it pulls a blank piece of paper through. It will print in notepad

there is something wrong with your Word printer setup. Go to Word, then from the File menu select the Print option and when the print window opens see if the HP deskjet is selected as default printer. Then, in the upper right quadrant theres a button called Advanced Settings, or Prefferences (depending on your Word version). Click that button and check to see if the HP printer is set as On Line, and is set to print odd and even pages. Also, check the margins of the paper. Ink Jet printers cant print over the full page, there's always a need of some margin on each side of the paper, so you'll need to set the margins from all sides on at least 0.5 inches

User prints a Powerpoint 2007 doc and several of the slides have missing info. One has the upper left quadrant partially printing and two others have 3/4 of the slide partially printing. Fresh install of...

I would recommend you download the latest drivers for your printer, and also check to see if your powerpoint has updates as well.

also, its possible your printer does not have enough memory to print complex graphics, try reducing the quality or resolution of your file.

thanks adi

Paper is crumpled, toner is not adhering in certain areas

The fuser is shot....this is the unit that uses heat and pressure to fuse the toner to the page. It is primarily when the pressure roller wears that you get crinkling and bad fusing, but I'm sure the upper sleeve has seen better days as well.
These days it is (sadly) cheaper to replace this printer with a new little HP -only around $100 or so.

*please rate me :)

Deterioration on the left side

I have same issue and had a service tech to take a look at my machine. I was told that the OPC Belt was bad and should have it replaced. Not a great answer considering the drum costs well over $399 each!

Extra marks on printed pages

1.try stopping the printer halfway thru a print cycle
if you can stop a paper under the print cartridge and before the fuser you can check for print defects on the page before the toner is melted into the paper.

if no defects are found then your fuser may be defective, usually the upper fusers film sleeve tears -testing this way can save you from trying a new cartridge$$$
