Question about GE Monogram ZDWT240PBS Wine Cooler

Open Question

Excessive sounds - constant pressure release sounds

My new wine cooler (ge monogram) makes constant sounds throughout day and night, much like a pressure relief valve. GE sent techs, they never heard of it, so replaced compressor and dryer. Same problem, so GE gave in and sent me a new fridge. Guess what, it makes the same annoying noise! Help! It is loud and happens many times in 24-hour period. Is this normal? I have the matching beverage center and it does not make the noise.

SOURCE: Loud humming noise as fridge is running

Sounds like the freezer fan is rubbing some wires or possible some foam insulation around the fan. I would look into the freezer compartment fan and go from there. The fan Will Shut off when you open the doors. Let me know how you make out and if you need anymore help.

Thanks,
Bill

SOURCE: Refrigerator warm, freezer too cold

I had this same problem. You need to totally empty the fridge and freezer and allow it to defrost for 24 hours. Then put it back on and it will work. This happens if someone leaves the freezer door open and then it gets closed. The defrosted water freezes in the pipes and doesn't allow the cold air to move up into the fridge so the freezer gets even colder. This has happened to me twice!

Sounds like it is low on refrigerant or not pumping. Either would require a qualified service tech and the repair costs, depending on the price of the cooler, might possibly exceed what you'd want to spend.

My wine cooler is making a loud humming noise. It still cools fine, but you can hear it throughout the house now.

possibly the compressor is running harder due to either being low on freon or the condensor coils are dirty not letting the heat to be released causing the the compressor itself to overheat.

The wine cooler doesn't seem to be cooling light goes on when you open door so pretty sure it has electricity to it?

Can you hear it running? If there is a question, leave the door open and remain there until you hear it start. This may take up to 15 minutes.
What do you have the control on? Wine coolers ar not refrigerators. (White) wine typically served at cellar temp (around 50 to 55 degrees. My friend, please don't tell me you are chilling quality Reds! You are killing them.

Does not cool. Compressor Hot

Sounds like the compressor starting relay. This should be available from from most appliance parts retailers that carry refrigeration parts. It is probably a plug-in relay which is easy to replace. PULL THE PLUG UNTIL YOU GET IT! Constant cycling on the thermal protector will damage the unit.
