It's either the guage is faulty or the floter inside the tank is faulty.

Fuel gauge consantly reeds half tank of fuel how do i test gauge and or sender unit

Sorry, but fuel pump and fuel gauge sending unit are all one unit, and in the tank.! There should be 2 straps that come off, drop the tank(preferably empty) and it's out.
NOTE* disconnect all fuel lines first and disconnect battery is a safe bet too.

Town and Country Van running out of gas and guage says half a tank what could be the problem?

If your fuel gauge is showing you in accurate readings this is normal to all vehicles that are not used to fill-up gas full regularly but sometimes the cause of the inacuracy is due to faulty float valve in the gas tank you need to replace it

2004 Mercedes C-230. Fuel gauge stopped working. What's wrong? Mercedes says its a MAJOR problem needing some internal work. I doubt it! Please help. Thanks

Fuel float could be stuck, sensor could be bad... most likely it's not something major. On the other hand, it could require specialty tools or taking off major parts to get to the faulty equipment. A few things to check is if the 'low fuel' light comes on when your fuel levels are actually low. This would indicate that it is limited to an issue with the float and related items.
My Ford Escort had the same problem, fuel gauge was stuck at half tank for about 24 months. One day, in a near wreck incident, I ended up going over a curb, which must have jarred the fuel float back into action and it has worked consistently since. I DO NOT SUGGEST DOING SOMETHING RECKLESS WITH YOUR VEHICLE!
If you are comfortable using the trip-o-meter to gauge your fuel (take your fuel capacity and multiply by your lowest miles per gallon, and subtract 50 to get a good estimate on when you need to fill up... full every time) and want to save some money, it is no major issue, and may resolve itself. If you're intent on fixing it, ask a mechanic if he can give you a second opinion, and if you like his more, don't go to a mercedes dealership to get it worked on, a few well placed bangs with a wrench could fix it.
